DevOps Engineer   $100,000 USD/year

Description

You are the engineer who ensures 50+ SaaS products remain operational while others rely on guesswork. We seek DevOps engineers capable of navigating unknown AWS environments, stabilizing disorder, and driving uptime beyond 99.9% through authentic monitoring, automation, and root cause analysis. You will break down complex projects into single-day tasks, deliver production-ready Python or JavaScript, and leverage AI as your assistant.

Many organizations claim "cloud expertise" while manually managing infrastructure. We are industrializing reliability across dozens of acquired products where original developers have departed and documentation is incomplete. The challenge: you will employ agents and contemporary tooling to investigate unfamiliar systems 5–10x faster, document your findings, and automate solutions so recurring outages are eliminated. Rather than evaluating you on certifications and vendor logos, we will observe you troubleshoot in real time, compose a genuine 5-Whys analysis that identifies one preventable root cause, and construct automations that withstand production conditions.

This is not an L2 "execute the playbook" position. Here, you author the playbooks, architect the deployment from dev to staged to 10% to 100% with soak periods and rollback triggers, and construct the monitors that identify edge cases. You reject unsafe modifications before they reach production. You distinguish infrastructure failures you own from application defects Engineering owns, and you assign permanent resolutions to the appropriate team.

You will operate at the engineering center of reliability, owning infrastructure projects, incident response and root cause analyses, and change requests with copy-paste-executable runbooks. If you have already owned a significant SaaS product and want to apply that discipline to a fleet, join us. Bring expert-level AWS knowledge, production-grade coding skills, ruthless scope management, and daily, critical application of AI tools. If you are prepared to maintain operational stability, please apply.

What you will be doing

  • Executing complex infrastructure migrations, consolidations, production-grade automations, and monitoring changes
  • Triaging production incidents, deploying immediate fixes, and authoring root cause analyses with permanent resolutions assigned to responsible teams
  • Authoring, reviewing, and executing production changes, including assessing whether a proposed change is safe for execution

What you will NOT be doing

  • Spending time in Jira and endless status meetings - we value individuals who can deliver solutions, not merely document problems
  • Preserving outdated systems indefinitely - you will be empowered to implement meaningful improvements
  • Waiting for bureaucratic approval chains - you will have the authority to deploy immediate fixes to address incidents

Key responsibilities

  • Drive reliability and standardization of cloud infrastructure across our expanding product portfolio by deploying robust monitoring, automation, and AWS best practices.

Candidate requirements

  • Deep AWS infrastructure expertise (this is our primary platform - other cloud experience alone won't cut it)
  • Experience managing production infrastructure at a scale of hundreds of containers
  • Experience scripting with Python and Bash for day-to-day administration operations
  • Experience managing and migrating production databases with multiple engines (including MySql, Postgres, Oracle, MS-SQL)
  • Experience with infrastructure automation (Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation)
