Description

You're the engineer who sustains 50+ SaaS products when no one else has the blueprint. We need DevOps engineers capable of stepping into unknown AWS environments, restoring order from instability, and driving uptime beyond 99.9% through genuine monitoring, automation, and root cause analysis. You'll break down complex initiatives into daily deliverables, deploy production-ready Python or JavaScript, and leverage AI as your assistant.

Many organizations talk about "cloud" while hand-holding individual servers. We're scaling reliability practices across a portfolio of acquired products where original developers have departed and documentation is incomplete. The challenge: you'll combine agents and contemporary tooling to explore unfamiliar systems 5–10x faster, document your findings, and automate solutions so recurring failures are eliminated. Rather than judging you on certifications and vendor badges, we'll observe you troubleshoot in real time, author a genuine 5-Whys that isolates one preventable root cause, and create automations that endure in production.

This is not an L2 "execute the runbook" position. Here, you author the runbooks, architect the deployment path from development through staged rollout to 10% and 100% with soak periods and rollback mechanisms, and construct the monitoring that identifies edge scenarios. You block risky changes before deployment. You distinguish infrastructure failures under your ownership from application bugs owned by Engineering, then route permanent remediation to the correct team.

You'll operate at the engineering foundation of reliability, taking ownership of infrastructure initiatives, incident management and RCAs, and change requests accompanied by copy-paste-ready runbooks. If you've previously owned a significant SaaS product and wish to apply that discipline across a fleet, join us. Bring expert-tier AWS knowledge, production-quality coding skills, disciplined scope management, and daily, essential use of AI tooling. If you're prepared to maintain operational excellence, please apply.

What you will be doing

  • Executing sophisticated infrastructure migrations, consolidations, production-quality automations, and monitoring enhancements
  • Diagnosing production incidents, deploying immediate remediation, and authoring root cause analyses with permanent fixes routed to accountable teams
  • Drafting, validating, and implementing production changes, including assessing the safety and viability of proposed modifications

What you will NOT be doing

  • Spending time in Jira and recurring status meetings - we prioritize people who deliver solutions, not merely document issues
  • Keeping legacy systems running forever - you'll be authorized to implement substantive improvements
  • Waiting on bureaucratic approval processes - you'll possess the authority to deploy urgent fixes during incidents

Key responsibilities

  • Advance reliability and standardization of cloud infrastructure across our expanding product portfolio by deploying comprehensive monitoring, automation, and AWS best practices.

Candidate requirements

  • Deep AWS infrastructure expertise (this is our primary platform - other cloud experience alone won't cut it)
  • Experience managing production infrastructure at a scale of hundreds of containers
  • Experience scripting with Python and Bash for day-to-day administration operations
  • Experience managing and migrating production databases with multiple engines (including MySql, Postgres, Oracle, MS-SQL)
  • Experience with infrastructure automation (Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation)
