DevOps Engineer   $100,000 USD/year

Description

You are the engineer who maintains uptime across 50+ SaaS products when others are still figuring out the basics. We need DevOps engineers capable of stepping into unfamiliar AWS environments, restoring order from instability, and driving uptime beyond 99.9% through genuine monitoring, automation, and root cause analysis. You will break down complex projects into single-day increments, deliver production-ready Python or JavaScript, and leverage AI as an assistant.

Many organizations talk about "cloud expertise" while manually nursing fragile systems. We are systematizing reliability across dozens of acquired products where original developers have departed and documentation is incomplete. The challenge is compelling: you will employ agents and contemporary tooling to reverse-engineer unfamiliar systems 5–10x faster, document your findings, and automate solutions so repeat incidents become impossible. Rather than judging you on certifications and brand-name tools, we will observe how you troubleshoot in real time, author a genuine 5-Whys analysis that identifies one preventable root cause, and construct automations that endure production pressures.

This is not a tier-two "follow the runbook" position. In this capacity, you author the runbooks, architect the deployment path from development through staged rollout to 10% and finally 100% with soak periods and rollback criteria, and construct the monitoring that surfaces edge-case failures. You refuse unsafe changes before execution. You distinguish infrastructure issues under your ownership from application defects that belong to Engineering, and you route permanent remediation to the appropriate team.

You will operate at the engineering center of reliability, taking ownership of infrastructure initiatives, incident triage and RCAs, and change requests accompanied by copy-paste-ready runbooks. If you have already owned a critical SaaS product and wish to extend that expertise across a portfolio, join us. Bring expert AWS knowledge, production-quality coding ability, disciplined scope management, and daily, mission-critical use of AI tooling. If you are prepared to sustain operational excellence, please apply.

What you will be doing

  • Executing sophisticated infrastructure migrations, consolidations, production-quality automations, and monitoring enhancements
  • Responding to production outages, deploying immediate remediation, and authoring root cause analyses that assign permanent fixes to responsible teams
  • Authoring, reviewing, and deploying production changes, including assessing the safety of proposed modifications before execution

What you will NOT be doing

  • Spending your day in Jira and recurring status calls - we reward individuals who deliver solutions, not merely document problems
  • Preserving legacy systems without end - you will be authorized to pursue substantive improvements
  • Waiting on bureaucratic sign-off chains - you will possess the authority to deploy immediate fixes during incidents

Key responsibilities

  • Advance reliability and standardization of cloud infrastructure throughout our expanding product portfolio by deploying comprehensive monitoring, automation, and AWS best practices.

Candidate requirements

  • Extensive AWS infrastructure expertise (this is our core platform - experience with other clouds alone is insufficient)
  • Background operating production infrastructure at a scale of hundreds of containers
  • Proficiency scripting in Python and Bash for routine administrative tasks
  • Background administering and migrating production databases across multiple engines (including MySql, Postgres, Oracle, MS-SQL)
  • Proficiency with infrastructure automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation)
