Virtual Learning Assistant   $40,000 USD/year

Description

IMPORTANT NOTE: This is a hybrid role requiring physical presence in Arizona.

What if your role focused on keeping students motivated, supported, and eager to participate—free from lesson planning, grading, or instructional responsibilities?

This position is designed for individuals who excel at connecting with young people and thrive in dynamic environments. At Unbound Academy's fully virtual, tuition-free charter school, students advance rapidly through academic content using AI-powered tools, then engage in live, interactive workshops centered on life skills, teamwork, and self-confidence. Your responsibility is to ensure these moments flow seamlessly and create positive experiences for students.

You'll serve as the essential bridge in the learning journey. You'll facilitate transitions, assist small groups, maintain high energy, and provide support when students need guidance or reassurance. Content instruction won't fall to you—but your presence is critical to making the model work.

If you've worked with youth in camps, after-school settings, athletics, tutoring environments, or community organizations—and you're drawn to a hybrid position combining virtual engagement with in-person teamwork—this is an opportunity to make school feel connected and meaningful again.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating live virtual workshops by overseeing breakout rooms, transitions, timing, and group dynamics
  • Fostering participation using chat features, positive reinforcement, gentle prompts, and one-on-one student interactions
  • Supporting students to remain engaged, self-assured, and socially connected throughout their learning day
  • Providing behind-the-scenes operational support to lead educators to ensure sessions proceed without disruption
  • Serving as a reliable, approachable presence within student clubs and life-skills programming

What you will NOT be doing

  • Delivering academic instruction or teaching subject-area content
  • Developing lesson plans, evaluating student work, or conducting academic assessments
  • Building curriculum or facilitating workshops without oversight
  • Remaining on the sidelines or taking a passive role—this position demands active, energetic involvement

Key responsibilities

Facilitate engaging, virtual learning environments by keeping students organized, motivated, and fully involved throughout each workshop session.

Candidate requirements

  • Available to start immediately or at the end of July (one of the two).
  • At least 1 years of experience mentoring, coaching, tutoring, or leading youth
  • Educational background within U.S., Canadian, or U.K. school systems (K–16); must have attended school in one of these countries
  • Energizing, student-first presence with strong attention to detail
  • Willing to work in a hybrid role in Arizona.
