Virtual Learning Assistant   $40,000 USD/year

Description

This position is designed for individuals who excel at energizing and supporting young learners—without the burden of lesson planning, grading, or academic delivery.

Unbound Academy operates a fully virtual, tuition-free charter school where students advance rapidly through academics using AI-powered tools, then participate in live, interactive workshops centered on life skills, collaboration, and personal growth. Your role is to ensure these live experiences are smooth, engaging, and meaningful for every student.

You will serve as the operational backbone of the student experience. You'll facilitate transitions, support small group dynamics, sustain energy and engagement, and provide encouragement or clarification when students need it. You won't deliver academic instruction—but your presence is essential to making the model work.

If you have experience leading youth in camps, tutoring programs, athletics, after-school activities, or community organizations—and you're drawn to a hybrid position that combines virtual facilitation with in-person collaboration—this is an opportunity to help redefine what school can feel like.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating live virtual workshops by overseeing breakout rooms, managing transitions, and maintaining pacing and group momentum
  • Fostering participation through chat engagement, public recognition, gentle prompts, and one-on-one student check-ins
  • Ensuring students remain engaged, confident, and connected across the full learning day
  • Supporting lead educators with operational logistics that enable sessions to run seamlessly
  • Serving as a reliable, encouraging presence across student clubs and life-skills programming

What you will NOT be doing

  • Delivering academic instruction or teaching subject-area content
  • Developing lesson plans, grading assignments, or conducting academic assessments
  • Building curriculum or leading workshops without support
  • Taking a passive or observational stance—this role demands active, dynamic engagement

Key responsibilities

Facilitate engaging, virtual learning environments by keeping students organized, energized, and actively participating throughout each workshop session.

Candidate requirements

  • Available to begin employment on August 1, 2026
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience mentoring, coaching, tutoring, or leading youth programs
  • Educational experience within U.S., Canadian, or U.K. school systems (K–16); must have attended school in one of these countries
  • Excellent communication abilities and high proficiency with digital platforms
  • Student-centered, energizing presence with strong organizational skills and attention to smooth transitions
  • Able to commit to full-time hours, Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm U.S. Mountain Time (UTC-7)
  • Willing to work in a hybrid capacity in Arizona.
