Student Engagement Assistant   $40,000 USD/year

Description

This role is for individuals who excel at keeping students motivated, connected, and eager to participate—without the responsibilities of curriculum design, grading, or direct instruction.

Unbound Academy operates as a fully virtual, tuition-free charter school where students complete their academics efficiently with AI-powered tools, then engage in live, interactive workshops centered on life skills, teamwork, and personal growth. Your function is to ensure these workshop moments are seamless and impactful for every student.

You will serve as the operational backbone of the student experience. You'll facilitate transitions between activities, assist small group dynamics, sustain engagement levels, and provide encouragement or redirection when needed. Content delivery is not your responsibility—but your presence is essential to the model's success.

If your background includes leading youth in camps, tutoring environments, athletics, after-school settings, or community organizations—and you're drawn to a hybrid position that merges virtual facilitation with in-person collaboration—this is an opportunity to redefine what school can feel like.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating live virtual workshops by overseeing breakout rooms, managing pacing, and ensuring smooth transitions and group dynamics
  • Fostering student participation using chat interactions, affirmations, gentle prompts, and individualized check-ins
  • Maintaining student engagement, confidence, and sense of belonging throughout the school day
  • Providing logistical and operational support to lead educators to keep sessions flowing without disruption
  • Serving as a reliable, familiar presence within student clubs and life-skills programming

What you will NOT be doing

  • Delivering academic instruction or teaching subject-matter content
  • Developing lesson plans, evaluating student work, or conducting academic assessments
  • Building curriculum or facilitating workshops without supervision
  • Taking a passive or observational role—this position requires active, consistent energy

Key responsibilities

Facilitate dynamic, virtual learning environments by keeping students engaged, well-organized, and motivated across all workshop sessions.

Candidate requirements

  • Available to start on August 1, 2026
  • At least 3 years of experience mentoring, coaching, tutoring, or leading youth
  • Educational background within U.S., Canadian, or U.K. school systems (K–16); must have attended school in one of these countries
  • Strong communication skills and high comfort operating across digital platforms
  • Energizing, student-first presence with strong attention to detail and smooth transitions
  • Willing to work full-time, Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm U.S. Mountain Time (UTC-7)
  • Willing to work in a hybrid role in Arizona.
