Student Engagement Assistant   $40,000 USD/year

Description

IMPORTANT NOTE: Physical presence in Arizona is required for this hybrid position.

Imagine a role where your focus is keeping students energized, supported, and eager to participate—with no lesson planning, grading, or instructional pressure involved.

This position is designed for individuals who excel at working with young people and operate best in dynamic environments. At Unbound Academy—a tuition-free, fully virtual charter school—students progress rapidly through academic content using AI-powered tools, then transition to live, interactive workshops centered on life skills, teamwork, and building self-assurance. Your responsibility is ensuring these experiences run seamlessly and resonate positively with students.

You'll serve as the bridge between structure and engagement. Managing transitions, facilitating small-group activities, sustaining energy, and offering encouragement or clarity when students need it will be your core focus. You won't deliver curriculum—but the student experience depends on your presence.

If you've guided youth through camps, tutoring sessions, sports programs, after-school activities, or community organizations—and you're drawn to a hybrid role combining virtual facilitation with in-person teamwork—this is an opportunity to make school feel personal and human once more.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating live virtual workshops by coordinating breakout rooms, managing transitions, maintaining pacing, and ensuring smooth group dynamics
  • Fostering participation using chat engagement, positive reinforcement, gentle prompts, and one-on-one student interactions
  • Ensuring students remain engaged, confident, and socially connected throughout their learning day
  • Providing logistical support to lead educators to maintain seamless session flow
  • Serving as a reliable, approachable presence within student clubs and life-skills programming

What you will NOT be doing

  • Delivering academic instruction or teaching subject-area content
  • Developing lesson plans, evaluating student work, or performing academic assessments
  • Building curriculum or facilitating workshops without guidance
  • Taking a passive or observational role—this position demands active, sustained energy

Key responsibilities

Facilitate dynamic, virtual learning environments by keeping students engaged, organized, and motivated across all workshop sessions.

Candidate requirements

  • Able to begin immediately or at the end of July (must meet one of these two start dates).
  • Minimum of 1 years of experience in mentoring, coaching, tutoring, or youth leadership
  • Educated within U.S., Canadian, or U.K. school systems (K–16); must have completed schooling in one of these countries
  • Student-centered, energizing demeanor with strong organizational attention
  • Open to working in a hybrid capacity in Arizona.
