Remote Youth Mentor   $40,000 USD/year

Description

IMPORTANT NOTE: This is a hybrid role that requires physical presence in Arizona.

What if your role was to keep students energized, supported, and motivated to engage—without academic instruction, testing, or grading responsibilities?

This position is designed for individuals who excel at connecting with young people and thrive in dynamic environments. At Unbound Academy's fully virtual, tuition-free charter school, students progress rapidly through academic content using AI-powered tools, then participate in live, interactive workshops centered on life skills, teamwork, and self-confidence. Your responsibility is to ensure these experiences run seamlessly and feel engaging for every student.

You'll serve as the bridge that holds the experience together. You'll facilitate transitions, assist small groups, maintain high energy, and provide support when a student needs guidance or reassurance. You won't deliver instructional content—but the experience depends on your presence to succeed.

If you've guided youth in camps, after-school settings, athletics, tutoring environments, or youth-focused organizations—and you're drawn to a hybrid position that combines virtual engagement with in-person teamwork—this is an opportunity to make school feel meaningful again.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating live virtual workshops by overseeing breakout rooms, transitions, pacing, and group dynamics
  • Promoting participation through chat engagement, recognition, gentle prompts, and one-on-one student interactions
  • Ensuring students remain engaged, confident, and connected throughout their daily learning experience
  • Supporting lead educators with operational logistics that ensure sessions flow without disruption
  • Serving as a reliable, approachable presence in student clubs and life-skills programming

What you will NOT be doing

  • Delivering academic instruction or teaching subject-specific content
  • Developing lesson plans, grading assignments, or conducting academic evaluations
  • Building curriculum or facilitating workshops on your own
  • Remaining passive or observing from the sidelines—this is a hands-on, high-energy position

Key responsibilities

Facilitate dynamic, virtual learning experiences by keeping students engaged, organized, and motivated throughout every workshop session.

Candidate requirements

  • Available to start immediately or at the end of July (one of the two).
  • At least 1 years of experience mentoring, coaching, tutoring, or leading youth
  • Educational background within U.S., Canadian, or U.K. school systems (K–16); must have attended school in one of these countries
  • Energizing, student-first presence with strong attention to detail
  • Willing to work in a hybrid role in Arizona.
