What you will be doing
- Plan and facilitate targeted reading workshops for K-2 learners, ensuring phonics instruction is engaging, enjoyable, and tailored to individual needs
- Modify teaching approaches on the fly according to student progress, reading abilities within groups, and real-time engagement signals
- Conduct motivational progress sessions with students to promote continued growth in adaptive literacy platforms and reach learning milestones
- Track student achievement data generated by adaptive technology and apply insights to customize instruction for each reading cohort
- Employ storytelling techniques, humor, gaming metaphors, and positive feedback to sustain student effort and address reluctance
Candidate requirements
- Available to work on-site at NextGen Academy in Austin, TX
- Bachelor's degree in elementary education, reading, or a related discipline
- Certification in structured literacy methodologies including Orton-Gillingham, Wilson Reading System, or comparable evidence-based phonics frameworks
- 2+ years of hands-on experience providing small-group reading instruction to K-2 students or learners facing reading challenges
- Proven capability to evaluate student reading proficiency and develop differentiated lesson plans autonomously
- Genuine enthusiasm for video games and gaming culture, regardless of personal gaming habits
- Authorized to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship
