What you will be doing
- Create and facilitate small-group literacy sessions for K-2 learners, ensuring phonics instruction is enjoyable, interactive, and tailored to individual needs
- Modify teaching methods in the moment according to student requirements, group literacy levels, and participation signals
- Conduct motivational sessions with students to promote progress in adaptive reading applications and reach educational milestones
- Track student advancement metrics from adaptive platforms and apply them to customize instruction for each literacy group
- Employ narrative techniques, humor, gaming comparisons, and affirmative feedback to sustain student effort and address reluctance
Candidate requirements
- Available to work on-site at NextGen Academy in Austin, TX
- Bachelor's degree in elementary education, reading, or a related discipline
- Certification in structured literacy methodologies such as Orton-Gillingham, Wilson Reading System, or comparable evidence-based phonics frameworks
- 2+ years of experience providing small-group reading instruction to K-2 students or learners with reading difficulties
- Proven capacity to evaluate student literacy levels and develop differentiated instruction autonomously
- Passionate about video games and gaming culture, whether or not you are a gamer personally
- Authorized to work legally in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship
