Recreation Leader   $40,000 USD/year

Description

IMPORTANT NOTE: This is a hybrid role that requires physical presence in Arizona.

What if your role was to keep students energized, engaged, and eager to participate—without the burden of lesson plans, grading, or academic assessments?

This position is designed for individuals who excel at working with young people and perform best in dynamic environments. At Unbound Academy's fully virtual, tuition-free charter school, students advance rapidly through academics using AI-powered tools, then dedicate the remainder of their day to live, interactive workshops centered on life skills, teamwork, and self-confidence. Your responsibility is to ensure these moments flow seamlessly and feel meaningful for students.

You'll serve as the vital link that holds the experience together. You'll facilitate transitions, assist small groups, maintain high energy, and provide support when a student needs guidance or motivation. You won't deliver instructional content—but your presence is essential to making the experience work.

If you've guided young people in camp settings, after-school programs, athletics, tutoring environments, or youth organizations—and you're drawn to a hybrid position that combines virtual engagement with in-person collaboration—this is an opportunity to help make education feel personal again.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating live virtual workshops by overseeing breakout rooms, transitions, session pacing, and group dynamics
  • Promoting participation through chat engagement, positive reinforcement, gentle prompts, and individualized student check-ins
  • Ensuring students remain engaged, confident, and connected throughout their learning day
  • Supporting lead educators with operational logistics that ensure sessions proceed without disruption
  • Serving as a reliable, trusted presence within student clubs and life-skills programming

What you will NOT be doing

  • Delivering academic instruction or teaching subject matter
  • Developing lesson plans, grading assignments, or conducting academic evaluations
  • Building curriculum or facilitating workshops on your own
  • Remaining passive or observing from the sidelines—this is an active, high-energy position

Key responsibilities

Facilitate dynamic, virtual learning experiences by keeping students engaged, organized, and motivated throughout each workshop session.

Candidate requirements

  • Available to start immediately or at the end of July (one of the two).
  • At least 1 years of experience mentoring, coaching, tutoring, or leading youth
  • Educational background within U.S., Canadian, or U.K. school systems (K–16); must have attended school in one of these countries
  • Energizing, student-first presence with strong attention to detail
  • Willing to work in a hybrid role in Arizona.
