Youth Coordinator   $40,000 USD/year

Description

IMPORTANT NOTE: This position operates in a hybrid format and requires in-person availability in Arizona.

Imagine a role where your focus is keeping students energized, engaged, and eager to participate—with no lesson planning, grading, or academic instruction involved.

This position is designed for individuals who connect naturally with young people and excel in dynamic environments. At Unbound Academy, a fully virtual, tuition-free charter school, students advance rapidly through academic content using AI-powered tools, then transition into live, interactive workshops centered on collaboration, life skills, and personal growth. Your role is to ensure these experiences run seamlessly and feel meaningful to every student.

You will serve as the operational backbone of the student experience. You'll facilitate transitions, guide small groups, sustain energy levels, and provide support when students need redirection or reassurance. You won't deliver academic instruction—but your presence is essential to making the model work.

If you have experience leading youth in camps, tutoring programs, athletics, after-school settings, or community organizations—and you're drawn to a hybrid role that combines virtual engagement with in-person teamwork—this is an opportunity to make school feel purposeful and connected again.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating live virtual workshops by coordinating breakout rooms, managing transitions, and maintaining session pacing and group dynamics
  • Promoting student participation using chat engagement, recognition, prompts, and one-on-one check-ins
  • Supporting students in staying engaged, building confidence, and feeling connected throughout the school day
  • Providing logistical and operational support to lead educators to ensure smooth session delivery
  • Serving as a reliable, approachable presence within student clubs and life-skills programming

What you will NOT be doing

  • Delivering academic instruction or teaching subject-area content
  • Developing lesson plans, evaluating student work, or conducting academic assessments
  • Building curriculum or facilitating workshops without guidance
  • Taking a passive or observational role—this position demands active involvement and high energy

Key responsibilities

Facilitate engaging, virtual learning environments by keeping students organized, motivated, and fully present during each workshop session.

Candidate requirements

  • Available to begin immediately or at the end of July (either option is acceptable).
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience coaching, mentoring, tutoring, or working with youth
  • Educational experience in U.S., Canadian, or U.K. school systems (K–16); must have been a student in one of these countries
  • Student-centered presence with high energy and strong organizational awareness
  • Prepared to work in a hybrid capacity in Arizona.
