Head of Media   $400,000 USD/year

Description

You are not inheriting a media brand. You are building one from scratch. As Founders School's founding Head of Media, you'll turn the daily reality of ambitious teenagers building real companies into content that attracts millions of viewers and inspires the next generation of entrepreneurs.

Founders School is an elite New York-based high school where students do not just study business — they build real companies. This role exists to turn that proof into media: student-founder milestones, live school events, and measurable outcomes packaged into credible, platform-native content that makes ambitious teens and their parents stop scrolling and take action.

You will own the full loop: find the story, extract the angle, produce the package, distribute it, and iterate until it drives real admissions demand. If you measure success in cultural reach and inbound interest, not vanity metrics, you belong here.

What you will be doing

  • Build and distribute multi-platform story packages from real student-founder milestones, progress proof points, and school experiences that drive reach and admissions demand
  • Transform workshops, mentor sessions, founder talks, and student experiences into content that teaches entrepreneurship while building trust in the Founders School model.
  • Extract the most credible and shareable moments from live Founders School events, workshops, and speaker series and package them into thought-leadership content for teens, parents, and speakers
  • Coach students to build audiences and tell their own stories, turning them into authentic creators and repeatable sources of content
  • Own end-to-end content execution across platforms: story identification, hook development, production, distribution, and performance iteration
  • Read engagement data weekly and systematically improve content angles, formats, and distribution strategies based on what is actually working
  • Use AI tools actively throughout research, scripting, editing, repurposing, and analytics to maintain a high-output, high-quality production workflow

What you will NOT be doing

  • Writing institutional copy, managing enrollment campaigns, or producing polished brand content that no one outside the school shares
  • Inheriting a content calendar or executing someone else's media strategy — you are building the system from conviction
  • Optimizing for follower counts, post frequency, or vanity metrics disconnected from admissions demand and cultural credibility
  • Running one-off promotional campaigns or event livestreams without a post-production distribution plan
  • Managing event logistics or school operations; your focus is the story, not the event itself

Key responsibilities

This role owns Founders School's entire external media identity and is accountable for building a proof-driven content engine that establishes Founders School as a nationally recognized entrepreneurial high school brand and generates 5,000 qualified inbound admissions inquiries within the first 12 months of launch.

Candidate requirements

  • Demonstrated track record building audience growth through organic content, supported by a portfolio of proof-based storytelling and measurable reach, engagement, or demand-generation outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to extract compelling story angles from raw interviews, footage, and milestones and package them into platform-native formats across at least two channels
  • Active AI-enabled content workflow: can describe specific tools used at each stage of research, scripting, editing, repurposing, and analytics
  • Demonstrated ability to coach creators, founders, students, or subject matter experts to create compelling content and build audiences.
  • Genuine belief that teenagers are capable of building real companies and that entrepreneurship is a force for good
  • Willingness to work full-time, in-person in New York, NY
  • Legal right to work in the US

Nice to have

  • Built a personal or brand audience from zero
  • Documentary, journalism, or creator background
  • Experience working with founders or public figures
  • Experience working with teenagers
  • Experience inside a creator-led media organization
