Leadership Coach   $150,000 USD/year

Description

  • On-site at an Alpha campus in Austin, TX or Scottsdale (Phoenix), AZ — relocation assistance available
  • $150,000/year
  • Full-time

Traditional elementary schools reduce expectations when children fall behind. You do the opposite. You hold the conviction that a six-year-old can achieve far beyond what conventional classrooms demand, and you have validated that belief with measurable results on more than one occasion.

Alpha operates on a two-hour learning model. Academic content is delivered via adaptive apps each morning, freeing your schedule for the work that genuinely transforms a child's trajectory: motivation, life skills, coaching, and accountability. You directly oversee a cohort of K-3 students while coaching the Guides (Alpha's term for the adults who mentor and inspire students) who manage their day-to-day development. You remain actively involved each day, not supervising from a remote office.

Your typical day alternates between three core activities. You analyze performance data and Coachbot analytics to identify which students and Guides need intervention. You conduct coaching sessions that equip people with clear, actionable next steps rather than generic encouragement. And you facilitate workshops for groups of five- to nine-year-olds on topics like public speaking, focus, or how to give and receive feedback.

When you identify effective strategies, you document them. The playbooks you create set the standard that all other Guides follow, expanding your influence from a single cohort to the entire grade level. Demonstrating your ability to scale that quality is the path to broader leadership responsibilities here.

If you view lowering standards as compassion, this role is not for you. If you see raising them as a form of respect, we invite your application.

What you will be doing

  • Coaching both Guides and students through analysis of performance data, classroom observation, and direct feedback, while maintaining accountability to measurable objectives
  • Leading one-hour live workshops for K-3 students focused on life skills including public speaking, focus, collaboration, resilience, accountability, and feedback exchange
  • Conducting individual and small-group motivation sessions that tie each child's personal goals and interests to tangible academic advancement
  • Developing and refining playbooks that convert your most effective practices into replicable systems for consistent execution by other Guides
  • Training Guides on these playbooks and demonstrating excellence in facilitation to maintain standards as the team expands

What you will NOT be doing

  • Teaching academic content or lecturing from the front of the classroom; adaptive apps handle instruction while you focus on coaching people
  • Reducing expectations in response to student difficulties
  • Managing from afar in the manner of instructional coaches or principals; you remain embedded with your cohort every day
  • Overseeing campus-wide budget, operations, and parent relations; a Campus Lead handles those responsibilities so you can concentrate on student and Guide results
  • Advocating for traditional teaching approaches or adhering to a conventional K-12 curriculum

Key responsibilities

Fulfill Alpha's three commitments to every K-3 student: they love school, learn twice as fast, and develop exceptional life skills and independence.

Candidate requirements

  • Willing to work on-site at an Alpha campus in Austin, TX or Scottsdale (Phoenix), AZ; relocation assistance is provided
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Business, Organizational Leadership, Child Development, or a related field
  • At least 5 years of experience working with elementary-aged children (approximately ages 5 to 9)
  • Experience leading a team of 5 or more individuals, with authority to hire and remove team members based on performance outcomes
  • Experience building, launching, or significantly scaling a program, team, school, or initiative from the ground up, rather than inheriting an established one
  • Comfortable operating in a school environment that rejects traditional teaching methods
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States

Nice to have

  • Master's degree in a related field
  • Demonstrated history using metrics, dashboards, or analytics to identify issues and achieve measurable improvement
  • Experience coaching or managing other adults to reach measurable outcomes, rather than performing the work independently
  • Background in youth development, camp leadership, competitive coaching, tutoring, or enrichment programs where motivation played a central role
  • Confidence and ability facilitating or public speaking before groups of young children
