Student Success Coach   $120,000 USD/year

Description

  • $120,000 annual W2 salary with weekly pay, plus immediate access to medical, dental, and vision coverage starting day one
  • Based on-site at an Alpha campus location: Bethesda, MD; Boca Raton, FL; Boston, MA; Greenwich, CT; Malibu, CA; Miami, FL; Miami Beach, FL; Palm Beach, FL; San Francisco, CA; or Santa Barbara, CA (we provide relocation assistance).

Traditional schools hold students to a standard. You'll guide them to surpass their own.

Each student possesses untapped potential beyond their current belief. When students face difficulty, most adults reduce expectations. Your approach is the reverse. You understand that confidence doesn't emerge from empty praise. It emerges when someone achieves what they previously considered beyond reach. If you've consistently refused to allow a student, athlete, participant, or mentee to give up on themselves, this work will resonate with you.

Alpha has redesigned education on a clear premise: AI excels at academic delivery, while exceptional people excel at transforming lives. Students progress through core academics via adaptive AI-driven learning platforms. Your role centers on cultivating what technology cannot—discipline, resilience, communication, ownership, focus, and the conviction that worthwhile goals demand effort. Your days won't involve delivering lectures or grading assignments. Instead, you'll coach students through obstacles, acknowledge genuine progress, and guide them toward accomplishments they never imagined possible.

Approximately 60% of your time is dedicated to facilitating dynamic, one-hour life skills workshops covering topics such as public speaking, focus, leadership, and feedback exchange. Roughly 30% involves one-on-one or small-group coaching sessions, leveraging Coachbot analytics to pinpoint students requiring encouragement, accountability, or alternative strategies. The final 10% is allocated to data review, coaching strategy refinement, and preparing students for continued growth. You'll begin with established workshop structures, then iterate and enhance them as you identify more effective methods to motivate students.

Performance metrics are measurable. A minimum of 90% of your students must reliably achieve weekly academic targets, demonstrate proficiency in Alpha's life skills via Test2Pass assessments, and provide ratings of at least 4 out of 5 for their experience with you. Consistently meet these benchmarks and you'll advance toward Lead Guide, mentoring fellow Guides, and ultimately Campus Lead, where you'll influence the culture and outcomes of an entire school.

This position isn't suited for individuals seeking to lecture, adhere to fixed curricula, or simply occupy students. It's designed for coaches, mentors, youth leaders, performers, tutors, and educators who define success by student transformation. Every finalist completes a full-day session coaching actual Alpha students before an offer is extended. If that prospect excites you more than another standard interview, we're eager to connect.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating energetic, one-hour life skills workshops for students in grades K-8, building communication, resilience, focus, leadership, and other enduring competencies while iterating on the workshop format.
  • Providing individualized and small-group coaching informed by Coachbot analytics, customized accountability, and Alpha's motivation frameworks to support every student in reaching ambitious weekly targets.
  • Evaluating life skill proficiency via Test2Pass and delivering focused coaching until each student exhibits true competence, not mere attendance.
  • Adjusting your coaching approach for elementary and middle school age ranges, recognizing when a kindergartner requires activity and positive reinforcement versus when an eighth grader benefits from direct accountability.
  • Reviewing weekly performance metrics to detect trends, eliminate barriers, and drive continuous improvement across your student cohort.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Conducting traditional classroom lessons. AI manages academic instruction, allowing you to concentrate on student development.
  • Grading assignments, developing lesson plans, or preparing students for standardized examinations.
  • Supervising students as they silently engage with computers. Each day is dynamic, interactive, and coaching-focused.
  • Seeking permission before intervening with a student in need. You possess the authority to respond swiftly and effectively.
  • Handling parent correspondence or administrative documentation. Campus Leads manage parent interactions, freeing you to prioritize students.

Key responsibilities

Develop a student cohort that reliably meets ambitious academic objectives, achieves mastery of critical life skills, and builds the confidence, resilience, and ownership necessary for long-term success beyond Alpha.

  • Bachelor's degree in any field
  • Minimum of 3 years direct experience working with K-8 students via teaching, coaching, tutoring, mentoring, camp leadership, or youth programming
  • Capacity to share a concrete example of inspiring a student to accomplish a challenging goal, detailing your methods and the result
  • Enthusiastic about allowing AI to manage academics so you can concentrate on coaching, motivation, and life skills cultivation
  • Authorized to work in the United States without need for current or future visa sponsorship
