Description

REQUIRED: Active Arizona Special Education Teaching Certificate and Arizona Residency.

What if your Special Education knowledge could extend beyond maintaining compliance—and truly help transform schooling?

Unbound Academy has reconstructed education from the foundation. We are the first tuition-free virtual charter school where students achieve academic mastery in only two hours daily through adaptive AI—leaving their afternoons open for immersive, real-world learning experiences. Our Guides do not present lectures. They mentor, motivate, and facilitate hands-on workshops teaching storytelling, entrepreneurship, design, wellness, and beyond. We now require a Special Education professional capable of both: guiding students toward life preparedness and directing our IEP program with exactness.

This position is designed for the SPED educator who has comprehensive experience. You have managed your own classroom—but you have also been the individual drafting, revising, and overseeing IEPs in the background. You understand the requirements for maintaining compliance while keeping students central to the process. You are located in Arizona and hold full certification. Above all, you are motivated by the opportunity to perform meaningful work—not administrative busywork—in a school that genuinely equips children for actual life.

If you are prepared to leave behind bureaucratic obstacles and approach SPED with fresh perspective, this is your opportunity to create something superior.

What you will be doing

  • Drafting, revising, and overseeing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in complete accordance with Arizona state standards
  • Organizing accommodations and compliance requirements throughout a dynamic virtual learning setting
  • Facilitating high-energy, real-world virtual workshops covering subjects like entrepreneurship, storytelling, or wellness
  • Mentoring SPED students individually and in small groups to develop confidence, executive functioning, and self-direction
  • Partnering with our school team to advance how we serve and empower exceptional learners

What you will NOT be doing

  • Providing traditional academic instruction—our AI tutors manage that
  • Operating in isolation from the classroom—you will be actively involved with students
  • Dedicating your days to unnecessary paperwork, meetings, or micromanagement
  • Adhering to a one-size-fits-all teaching approach—this is customized, agile education

Key responsibilities

Direct the creation, implementation, and compliance of all IEPs while involving students in transformative, life-skill-focused virtual experiences.

Candidate requirements

  • Reside in Arizona
  • Hold a valid Arizona Special Education teaching certification
  • Minimum 3 years of experience writing and updating IEPs
  • Experience coordinating accommodations and handling SPED compliance tasks
  • Prior experience working with students aged 8–14
  • Strong virtual presence and communication skills; on-camera confidence is essential
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, tech-powered school environment
