Director of Strategic Parent Engagement   $200,000 USD/year

Description

Families who select Alpha rely on trusted advisors in every area of their lives. This is the advisor they haven't had—until now.

You will be the person they reach out to when uncertainty arises, when something doesn't feel quite right, or when they want to share a moment they're confident you'll appreciate. You will understand each family deeply enough to sense what they need before they articulate it—and you will possess the judgment and composure to address what they bring you with care, warmth, and no apparent strain. Over time, you won't simply be connected to their child's education. You will become woven into how they experience this stage of their family's journey.

That depth of trust isn't achieved through a process. It is built through presence—daily, steady, unhurried. You will be present at morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up, at the evening gatherings that hold weight, and in the private conversations that never appear on any schedule. You will shape a community that families feel compelled to protect, where belonging feels organic and referrals emerge because the experience justifies them.

Alpha is not a conventional school. Students complete core academics in two hours daily using AI-powered applications, then dedicate the remainder of their time to public speaking, critical thinking, and real-world projects. No lectures. No busywork. Top 1% outcomes nationwide. The families who choose it are investing in something they value deeply—but that conviction requires nurturing.

You will sustain that dialogue with every family, through every question and uncertainty, for the entire duration of their child's enrollment. If advocating for an unconventional approach to discerning skeptics feels burdensome, this position is not suited to you. If it feels like the most compelling dialogue you could engage in, continue reading.

What you will be doing

  • Own the relationship with every enrolled family—the evolving, deepening relationship that ensures parents feel recognized, not merely attended to
  • Identify concerns before they surface as discussions, and address them with the discretion and interpersonal skill that preserves confidence
  • Maintain visible presence where families gather: morning drop-off (7–9am), afternoon pick-up (2–4pm), evening parent functions, and select weekend engagements
  • Develop a campus community with authentic substance—events, customs, and points of connection that foster a sense of belonging worth safeguarding
  • Cultivate parent champions through natural means, designing experiences so reliably exceptional that referrals arise as a matter of course
  • Sustain the ongoing dialogue about Alpha's AI-powered approach with families managing screen time questions, doubtful relatives, and periodic hesitation—not only during onboarding, but continuously throughout their campus tenure
  • Recognize when a family is not aligned with the community and manage that realization with the same poise you apply to all interactions—protecting the collective is integral to serving it
  • Establish the systems and cadences this position demands in a setting where the framework is still evolving

What you will NOT be doing

  • Overseeing enrollment—that responsibility belongs to the Admissions Director; your role commences when families commit and deepens continuously thereafter
  • Operating from a desk—your physical presence within the community defines the role
  • Adhering to standard 9–5 schedules—early mornings, late afternoons, and evening functions are intrinsic to the position, not occasional requirements
  • Relying on administrative infrastructure, established procedures, or a complete team—you function with significant autonomy and create what is necessary
  • Approaching family relationships as transactions to be processed—this role rewards authentic connection, not procedural adherence

Key responsibilities

Serve as the trusted relationship at the heart of every family's Alpha experience. Maintain their confidence during challenging moments, cultivate a community where belonging feels intentional, and establish the conditions under which satisfied families become enthusiastic advocates.

Candidate requirements

  • Currently reside within commuting distance of one of these campuses OR willing to relocate within 60 days (preference for candidates with existing community roots): Scottsdale, AZ; Palo Alto, CA; Piedmont, CA; Lake Forest, CA; San Francisco, CA; Greenwich, CT; Bethesda, MD; New York City, NY; Austin, TX; Fort Worth, TX; Houston, TX; or Kirkland, WA
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
  • 5+ years in a relationship-oriented role serving high-net-worth or ultra-high-net-worth families—private school admissions, luxury hospitality, philanthropy, or any setting where discretion, warmth, and interpersonal fluency were as critical as competence
  • Proven capacity to sustain relationships through challenging circumstances with sophisticated families and maintain trust throughout
  • Authentic presence and communication approach that establishes confidence rapidly with affluent, high-expectation families—not refined in a manner that appears rehearsed
  • Direct familiarity with independent, private, or non-traditional education—whether professional or parental—that provides you credible footing when families challenge the approach
  • Sincere conviction in AI-powered education and the capacity to sustain that belief authentically across years of parent engagement, not solely during the enrollment phase
  • Availability for adaptable hours: early mornings (7–9am), late afternoons (2–4pm), evening functions 2–3x/month, and occasional weekend programming

Nice to have

Exceptional candidates will possess at least one of the following:

  • Established connections within the local affluent community that would provide you with an immediate, organic foothold on campus
  • Private school or independent school background with a demonstrated record of family retention and community cohesion—not merely enrollment metrics
  • Experience managing high-stakes family dynamics where your judgment and discretion were the reasons trust endured
  • A natural ability to design experiences—events, moments, settings—where individuals feel they are part of something worthy of protection
  • Prior startup or early-stage experience where you constructed systems from the ground up and maintained composure through rapid change

This is not conventional schooling, and this is not conventional parent engagement.

At Alpha, parent advocacy is not a support function. It is a growth mechanism. You will facilitate high-trust dialogues, orchestrate events that influence decisions, and deepen conviction one family at a time. That requires mastery of both the message and the underlying model. You will need to understand precisely what distinguishes Alpha—and how to articulate that in ways that resonate.
