Virtual Student Mentor   $60,000 USD/year

Description

  • Hybrid AZ · W2 · $60K/yr

Licensed teachers seeking to shift from traditional school management to direct, life-changing student mentorship are encouraged to apply.

Imagine a role where lesson plans, lectures, and grading disappear—replaced by a singular focus on mentoring young people into confident, capable individuals.

Unbound Academy has reimagined what teaching means. This hybrid position supports a fully virtual, tuition-free charter school in Arizona that prioritizes hands-on learning over worksheets and centers personal development. Students handle their core academic work independently through AI-powered platforms in two concentrated hours each day. Their remaining time is devoted to building practical skills via guided workshops, coaching, and exploration.

You won't deliver scripted content or monitor a virtual classroom. Instead, you'll facilitate high-energy online sessions that push students to think critically, create, collaborate, and develop. You'll guide them through storytelling, entrepreneurship, wellness, and problem-solving while fostering independence, confidence, and executive function.

This position is not designed for educators attempting to recreate conventional schooling over Zoom. It's intended for licensed teachers prepared to relocate to Arizona, embrace a hybrid structure, and support students in ways that genuinely equip them for real life. If you've grown weary of classroom busywork and are ready to engage in the most impactful work of your career, continue reading.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating interactive virtual workshops centered on life skills including communication, creativity, problem-solving, and self-direction
  • Providing one-on-one and small group mentorship to cultivate confidence, ownership, and executive functioning in students
  • Leveraging platform data and student indicators to tailor support and monitor progress consistently
  • Partnering with fellow educators to design and refine project-based learning experiences on an ongoing basis
  • Building a safe, energized environment where students feel recognized, challenged, and inspired to develop

What you will NOT be doing

  • Instructing core academic subjects; adaptive AI tutors manage those areas
  • Presenting scripted lectures or operating within a traditional classroom framework
  • Evaluating worksheets, assigning homework, or developing standardized lesson plans

Key responsibilities

Advance student growth and life readiness by facilitating transformative, real-world learning experiences within a hybrid, fully virtual school environment.
