Description

  • Hybrid AZ · W2 · $60K/yr

Licensed teachers seeking to transition from classroom management to direct student mentorship are encouraged to apply.

Imagine a teaching role no longer centered on lesson planning, grading, or lectures—instead, one focused entirely on guiding young people to develop into confident, capable individuals.

Unbound Academy operates with an intentionally different model. This hybrid position supports a fully virtual, tuition-free Arizona charter school where traditional worksheets are replaced by experiential learning and personal development takes priority. Students work through core academics independently using AI-driven platforms during two concentrated hours each day. The remainder of their time is dedicated to developing practical skills through facilitated workshops, mentorship, and independent exploration.

Your role will not involve delivering standardized lessons or monitoring a virtual classroom. Instead, you'll facilitate dynamic online sessions designed to encourage students to think critically, collaborate meaningfully, and develop as individuals. You'll guide them through storytelling, entrepreneurship, wellness initiatives, and problem-solving exercises while fostering independence, self-assurance, and executive function capabilities.

This position is not intended for educators seeking to replicate conventional schooling in a remote format. It is designed for licensed teachers prepared to relocate to Arizona, operate within a hybrid framework, and mentor students in ways that genuinely prepare them for adult life. If you are seeking an alternative to classroom busywork and want to engage in profoundly impactful educational work, continue reading.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating engaging virtual workshops centered on life competencies including communication, creativity, critical thinking, and self-management
  • Providing one-on-one and small-group mentorship to cultivate student confidence, accountability, and executive functioning skills
  • Leveraging platform analytics and student engagement indicators to customize support and monitor development trajectories
  • Working alongside fellow educators to design and iteratively refine project-based learning opportunities
  • Establishing a supportive, energized environment where students feel valued, challenged, and inspired to develop

What you will NOT be doing

  • Instructing core academic content; adaptive AI tutors manage that component
  • Presenting scripted lectures or operating within a traditional classroom structure
  • Evaluating worksheets, assigning homework, or developing standardized lesson plans

Key responsibilities

Facilitate student development and real-world preparedness by delivering impactful, experiential learning opportunities within a hybrid, fully virtual charter school environment.

Candidate requirements

  • Available to begin employment at the end of July 2026
  • Current U.S. teaching certificate from any state, or an expired certificate that qualifies for reinstatement, with the ability to transfer certification to Arizona
  • Demonstrated ability to engage students effectively via video platforms
  • Capable of working in a hybrid capacity within Arizona
