Description

  • Hybrid AZ · W2 · $60K/yr

Licensed teachers seeking to shift from classroom management to direct student mentorship should consider this role.

Imagine a position where lesson planning, lectures, and grading no longer define your day—where the focus instead turns entirely to coaching young people toward confidence and capability.

Unbound Academy operates under a fundamentally different teaching model. This hybrid position supports a tuition-free Arizona virtual charter school that prioritizes experiential learning over traditional assignments and places personal development at its core. Students handle their core academics independently via AI-powered platforms in approximately two hours daily. The remaining time is dedicated to building practical skills through facilitated workshops, mentorship, and exploratory learning.

Your role will not involve scripted instruction or virtual classroom policing. Instead, you will facilitate dynamic online sessions designed to push students to think critically, create, collaborate, and mature. Through storytelling, entrepreneurship, wellness activities, and problem-solving exercises, you will guide them in cultivating independence, self-assurance, and strong executive functioning.

This position does not suit educators attempting to transpose traditional schooling into a Zoom format. It requires licensed teachers prepared to relocate to Arizona, engage in a hybrid work arrangement, and support students in ways that genuinely equip them for future success. If you are finished with classroom administrative tasks and prepared for the most impactful work of your teaching career, continue reading.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating engaging virtual workshops centered on essential life competencies including communication, creativity, critical thinking, and self-management
  • Providing one-on-one and small-group mentorship to cultivate student confidence, accountability, and executive function skills
  • Leveraging platform analytics and student indicators to tailor support and monitor development longitudinally
  • Working alongside peer educators to design and iteratively refine project-based learning activities
  • Establishing a secure, energizing environment where students feel recognized, challenged, and inspired to develop

What you will NOT be doing

  • Instructing core academic content; adaptive AI tutoring systems manage those subjects
  • Presenting scripted lectures or operating within a conventional classroom framework
  • Evaluating worksheets, distributing homework assignments, or developing standardized lesson plans

Key responsibilities

Facilitate student development and life preparedness by delivering transformative, practical learning experiences in a hybrid, fully virtual school environment.

  • Available to begin employment at the end of July 2026
  • Current U.S. teaching certificate from any state, or a lapsed certificate that qualifies for reinstatement, with ability to transfer certification to Arizona
