Sports Mentor   $150,000 USD/year

Description

  • $150,000 annual salary, distributed weekly. Full health, dental, and vision coverage begins day one
  • Austin, TX (fully on-site)
  • Relocation assistance available

If you've reached the pinnacle of competitive sport—Olympic medalist, World Champion, Division I First Team All-American—you understand what it takes to achieve excellence. The question is whether you can convert that high-level experience into deliberate coaching methods that drive student performance.

Texas Sports Academy offers a platform where your next challenge is developing champions—not from the bench, but through direct, daily coaching that pushes students past their perceived boundaries. You won't simply recount your achievements. Instead, you'll apply elite-level discipline to create concrete motivational frameworks, deliver resilience training in interactive workshops, and lead vigorous practice sessions where championship expectations are the baseline.

Austin provides consistent outdoor training conditions, a robust sports community, and a purpose-centered environment where your competitive background becomes the framework for mentoring emerging leaders.

Lead with intention. Drive measurable growth. Submit your application today.

What you will be doing

  • Conducting focused 1:1 coaching sessions where you convert your competitive discipline into concrete, executable strategies tailored to each student
  • Facilitating high-intensity morning assemblies designed to activate and energize the entire student population
  • Delivering interactive workshops on essential life competencies, actively guiding students through exercises in resilience, leadership, and goal formulation
  • Directing organized afternoon sports sessions that embody championship principles: creating drills, demanding effort, refining technique, and instilling perseverance and collaboration through athletic activity (not simply overseeing recreation)
  • Maintaining continuous engagement with all students throughout each day: moving through spaces during self-directed study periods, stepping in to encourage students who are struggling, and generating real-time learning opportunities that spark insight and progress

What you will NOT be doing

  • Observing passively from a distance: this role is not symbolic or honorary. You are actively present, leading sessions, and making immediate interventions as needed.
  • Delivering conventional academic instruction or adhering to a fixed curriculum: students use adaptive technology for academics. Your focus is life coaching, motivation, and developing transferable skills through athletics and direct mentorship.

Candidate requirements

  • We are looking for individuals who have competed at the elite tier of athletics — Olympic competitors, World Champions, professional athletes in the NFL, NBA, MLB, MLS, or NHL, or Division I All-American honorees
  • Bachelor's degree in any discipline
  • Documented experience leveraging athletics to mentor and develop life competencies
  • Confirmed track record of motivational leadership in athletic, academic, or professional contexts
  • Authorization to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship
  • Prepared to reside in or relocate to Austin, TX
