Sports Performance Coach   $150,000 USD/year

Description

  • $150,000 annually, distributed weekly. Full health, dental, and vision coverage begins on day one
  • Austin, TX (fully on-site)
  • Relocation assistance available

If you've reached the pinnacle of athletic competition (Olympian, World Champion, D1 First Team All-American), you understand the level of discipline required to succeed at the highest level. The question is: can you take those experiences and turn them into concrete coaching methods that drive students to excel?

At Texas Sports Academy, your arena shifts from personal performance to developing champions—not from a distance, but through direct, daily engagement that challenges students to exceed their perceived boundaries. You won't simply recount your achievements. Instead, you'll convert elite-level discipline into practical motivation frameworks, build resilience through interactive workshops, and lead rigorous practice sessions where championship standards apply to every participant.

Austin provides year-round outdoor training opportunities, a dynamic sports community, and a purpose-centered environment where your elite background becomes the blueprint for mentoring future leaders.

Coach with intention. Lead through action. Submit your application today.

What you will be doing

  • Conducting focused 1:1 motivation sessions that convert your athletic discipline into concrete, results-oriented coaching methods
  • Facilitating high-energy morning assemblies that activate the entire student community
  • Delivering interactive life skills workshops where you guide students through exercises in resilience, leadership, and goal achievement
  • Leading structured afternoon athletic training that embodies championship principles: creating drills, demanding maximum effort, refining technique, and instilling grit and collaboration through sport (not merely overseeing activity)
  • Maintaining active engagement with all students throughout each day: moving through spaces during independent work periods, intervening to motivate when you observe a student struggling, and generating teachable moments that spark transformative thinking

What you will NOT be doing

  • Observing from the periphery: this is not a symbolic or honorary position. You're present and active, directly engaging students, facilitating sessions, and making real-time adjustments.
  • Delivering traditional classroom instruction or adhering to academic curricula: students engage with material through adaptive technology. Your focus is life coaching, motivation, and developing transferable skills through athletics and mentorship.

Key responsibilities

As an Elite Guide, your responsibility is transforming Austin-based student-athletes into high-performing learners and leaders by channeling elite athletic principles into everyday motivation, life-skills development, and structured athletic training within a high-expectation school setting.

  • Take ownership of daily student motivation through progress assessment, identification of obstacles, and coaching toward defined academic and personal objectives.
  • Facilitate energetic morning kickoffs that establish a purposeful, competitive atmosphere for the day ahead.
  • Conduct life-skills workshops that instill resilience, leadership, discipline, and accountability using personal narratives, reflective exercises, and active participation.
  • Execute structured afternoon athletic sessions where drills, practice routines, and competition cultivate grit, teamwork, and elevated standards.
  • Leverage student performance data and direct observation to respond swiftly when a student becomes disengaged, encounters barriers, or underperforms relative to expectations.

Candidate requirements

  • We're seeking former elite athletes who have proven themselves at the very top of sport — Olympians, World Champions, pro players in the NFL, NBA, MLB, MLS, or NHL, or NCAA Division I All-Americans
  • Bachelor's degree in any subject
  • Proven experience using sport to mentor and coach life skills
  • Demonstrated motivational leadership in athletic, academic, or professional settings
  • Legal right to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship
  • Willing to live in or relocate to Austin, TX
