Waypoint Academy is redefining education by combining adventure-based life skills training with adaptive AI-driven academics. Instead of sitting passively through lectures, students develop public speaking skills outdoors, strengthen leadership abilities via team-based challenges, and progress academically at twice the normal pace through personalized learning software.

This role is about coaching K-12 students to unlock their capabilities through outdoor workshops and motivational goal-setting sessions, not traditional teaching. You will facilitate nature-based experiences that cultivate tangible skills such as focus, communication, and teamwork rather than delivering standard curriculum. High achievers who believe education needs fundamental change excel in this environment. You will witness measurable, immediate transformation as students shift from hesitant learners to self-assured performers.

Dripping Springs combines Hill Country scenery with proximity to Austin—just 30 minutes from the city's tech hub, live music venues, and dining scene. Enjoy over 300 sunny days annually, access to Barton Springs, and year-round outdoor recreation.

Guide their growth. Lead the adventure. Submit your application today.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating 1-hour outdoor life-skills workshops focused on public speaking, focus, leadership, and teamwork through nature-based challenges and adventure activities
  • Conducting brief, results-driven motivation sessions in which you guide students toward academic targets using adaptive software tools
  • Animating curriculum through storytelling, customization, and dynamic energy that sustains high engagement among K-12 students
  • Implementing safety protocols and sound outdoor decision-making (route selection, weather monitoring, equipment checks, Leave No Trace principles) in accordance with Waypoint's field standards
  • Evaluating skill mastery by requiring students to demonstrate life-skill application in practical, real-world scenarios
  • Maintaining a high standard of excellence while serving as an approachable, motivating role model whom students genuinely respect and admire

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in any subject
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working with K-12 students in school, camp, coaching, or outdoor programs
  • Proven track record of high achievement (academically, athletically, or professionally)
  • Compelling public speaker who can energize and hold attention for large groups of students, indoors and outdoors
  • Natural ability to relate to K-12 learners, their interests, and culture, not as a "buddy" but as a positive role model who pushes them to grow
  • Legal right to work in the United States without visa sponsorship
  • Willingness to work in-person at Waypoint Academy's campus in Dripping Springs, TX (near Austin)
