You will facilitate small-group reading sessions at a school designed around the interests of young gamers, applying phonics methods, adaptive literacy technology, and direct coaching to help K-2 learners develop the same passion for reading that they hold for games.

What you will be doing
- Create and facilitate small-group reading sessions for K-2 students, making phonics instruction engaging, enjoyable, and tailored to individual needs
- Modify instruction dynamically based on student performance, group literacy levels, and behavioral feedback
- Conduct motivational coaching sessions with students to promote progress in adaptive literacy applications and reach instructional targets
- Track student achievement data generated by adaptive platforms and apply findings to customize instruction for each group
- Deploy storytelling, humor, gaming metaphors, and affirmative feedback to sustain student effort and address reluctance
Candidate requirements
- Willing to work in-person at NextGen Academy in Austin, TX
- Bachelor's degree in elementary education, reading, or related field
- Certification in structured literacy approaches such as Orton-Gillingham, Wilson Reading System, or similar evidence-based phonics programs
- 2+ years of experience delivering small-group reading instruction to K-2 students or struggling readers
- Demonstrated ability to assess student reading levels and design differentiated instruction independently
- Enthusiastic about video games and gaming culture, even if not a gamer yourself
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship
