You will facilitate small-group literacy sessions at a school designed around the passions of young gaming enthusiasts, combining phonics methods, adaptive reading technology, and one-on-one coaching to help K-2 learners develop the same passion for reading that they have for games.

What you will be doing
- Create and facilitate small-group literacy sessions for K-2 learners, making phonics instruction enjoyable, interactive, and tailored to individual needs
- Adjust teaching approaches dynamically based on student performance, reading proficiency levels, and engagement signals
- Conduct motivational coaching sessions with students to promote progress in adaptive reading apps and reach literacy milestones
- Track student achievement data from adaptive technology and apply it to customize instruction for each literacy group
- Incorporate storytelling, humor, gaming metaphors, and positive feedback to build student resilience and address learning resistance
Candidate requirements
- Willing to work on-site at NextGen Academy in Austin, TX
- Bachelor's degree in elementary education, reading, or related field
- Certification in structured literacy approaches such as Orton-Gillingham, Wilson Reading System, or similar evidence-based phonics programs
- 2+ years of experience delivering small-group reading instruction to K-2 students or struggling readers
- Demonstrated ability to assess student reading levels and design differentiated instruction independently
- Enthusiastic about video games and gaming culture, even if not a gamer yourself
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship
