What you will be doing
- Create and facilitate small-group literacy sessions for K-2 learners, ensuring phonics instruction is enjoyable, interactive, and tailored to individual needs
- Adjust teaching methods dynamically according to student performance, group proficiency levels, and behavioral signals
- Conduct motivational coaching sessions with students to promote progress in adaptive literacy platforms and reach educational milestones
- Track student performance metrics from adaptive technology and apply findings to customize instruction for individual reading groups
- Leverage storytelling, humor, gaming metaphors, and affirming feedback to sustain student effort and address learning challenges
Candidate requirements
- Available to work on-site at NextGen Academy in Austin, TX
- Bachelor's degree in elementary education, reading, or a related discipline
- Certification in structured literacy methods such as Orton-Gillingham, Wilson Reading System, or comparable evidence-based phonics frameworks
- 2+ years of hands-on experience providing small-group reading instruction to K-2 students or learners with reading difficulties
- Proven capacity to evaluate student reading proficiency and independently develop differentiated lesson plans
- Genuine interest in video games and gaming culture, regardless of personal gaming experience
- Authorized to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship
