Most of your week will be dedicated to delivering focused intervention sessions. The remainder involves leading brief motivation conversations that keep students engaged and moving toward their targets. This position fits those who value independence, immediate feedback, and visible results. It's not suitable for anyone seeking a rigid script or who prefers to avoid working with data.

What you will be doing

  • Plan and facilitate virtual small-group and individual reading intervention sessions for students in grades 3–8
  • Analyze reading assessment data to identify fluency and comprehension deficits and modify instruction promptly
  • Tailor activities to accommodate multiple reading levels, including specialized support for dyslexia and associated reading challenges
  • Monitor progress with consistency and clarity, using that data to inform upcoming sessions
  • Conduct structured motivation conversations that strengthen confidence, resilience, and pride in achievement

What you will NOT be doing

  • Deliver large, whole-class lessons or present from a static curriculum
  • Execute a pre-scripted program without responding to student needs and immediate feedback
  • Function as a passive "software monitor" lacking meaningful teaching and relationship-building
  • Depend on superficial rewards that fail to cultivate enduring motivation

Key responsibilities

Take ownership of outcomes for grades 3–8—quantifiable improvements in fluency and comprehension—through delivery of customized virtual interventions and motivational support that fosters confidence.

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education, literacy, or a closely related field
  • Reading intervention certification or endorsement (e.g., Arizona Reading Specialist K-12 or equivalent state certification)
  • Specialized training or certification in dyslexia intervention (or related structured literacy approaches)
  • At least 2 years of experience delivering small-group or one-on-one reading interventions for students in grades 3–8
  • Experience supporting students with dyslexia or related reading difficulties
  • Ability to interpret progress monitoring data and use it to plan and adjust instruction
  • Strong ability to engage and manage students in a virtual setting through clear, motivating communication
  • Available to work in a hybrid capacity in Arizona as needed.
