Program Director   $150,000 USD/year

Description

  • On-site in Dorado, Puerto Rico
  • $150,000 annual salary, distributed weekly

If you have moved past conventional education models and will not compromise standards for comfort, this opportunity is built for you. You will guide students and adults toward rigorous goals using data and explicit benchmarks—not traditional instruction or lectures.

Alpha School is developing an AI-driven approach in which students complete core academics in two hours daily, then dedicate their afternoons to developing practical life skills. Our commitment is both straightforward and exacting: students enjoy school, progress at 2× the rate of their peers, and cultivate life competencies. This position ensures that commitment becomes reality for every K–8 learner at our Dorado location.

You will remain operationally engaged. You will facilitate one-hour life skills sessions, conduct structured student motivation meetings that drive progress in academic applications, and provide Guides with specific, actionable coaching. This is neither a conventional teaching position nor a hands-off administrative role. You will own outcomes, playbook adherence, and unwavering quality standards.

If you are ready to lead by example and establish a campus culture in which excellence is earned through effort, submit your application and demonstrate how you uphold high expectations without exception.

What you will be doing

  • Deliver one-hour life skills sessions for K–8 students by preparing materials and executing activities in strict alignment with playbooks
  • Conduct structured motivation sessions designed to accelerate student progress in academic applications and goal attainment
  • Observe Guide performance and provide standards-aligned coaching that includes explicit improvement steps and accountability
  • Apply objective, metrics-based judgment to maintain mastery standards, even when difficult
  • Work closely with on-campus staff daily to ensure reliable execution of Alpha's 3 Promises

What you will NOT be doing

  • Deliver or tutor traditional academic instruction in a classroom setting
  • Develop lesson plans or create curriculum materials
  • Deviate from established playbooks or improvise workshop content
  • Adjust mastery benchmarks or lower expectations to produce artificial success
  • Manage remotely through desk-based administration while others execute student-facing work

Key responsibilities

Ensure that every K–8 student at Alpha's Dorado campus reliably receives Alpha's 3 Promises: they love school, learn 2× faster, and develop life skills.

Candidate requirements

  • Authorized to work in Puerto Rico
  • Available to work full-time on-site at the Dorado, Puerto Rico campus
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years of relevant experience coaching individuals to demanding outcomes
  • Experience working with children ages 5–14 in coaching, motivational, or youth development contexts
  • Experience leading or coaching adult performance with defined standards and accountability mechanisms
  • Strong verbal communication ability for K–8 audiences
  • Data-driven decision-making capability (leveraging metrics and analytics to guide decisions and maintain standards)
  • High-standards orientation with comfort delivering direct feedback and sustaining goals without compromise
