Admissions Counselor   $40,000 USD/year

Description

Success in this role depends on your ability to establish trust with parents within the opening moments of a conversation. This position suits individuals who thrive on outreach, maintain disciplined follow-up, and can articulate a new educational model without scripts. If you tend to avoid phone-based work or prefer environments without measurable performance indicators, this opportunity is not the right match.

Unbound Academy operates as a tuition-free virtual public charter school, offering students a distinctive educational framework. Core academics are completed in a concentrated time block through AI-enhanced learning, allowing students to dedicate the remainder of their day to skill-building projects and enrichment activities. Your responsibility is to serve as the primary, meaningful contact for families considering this alternative.

Your weekly activities will include prompt responses to new inquiries, guiding families through each stage of admissions, and advancing them from curiosity to confirmed enrollment. You will also attend local events on behalf of Unbound Academy to cultivate new leads and strengthen community awareness. During quieter enrollment periods, you will support school operations while remaining prepared for upcoming intake cycles.

If you seek a position where your communication skills, reliability, and sense of ownership have a direct effect on student enrollment outcomes, we would like to hear from you.

What you will be doing

  • Reaching out to new inbound leads within a 24-hour window and beginning admissions discussions via phone
  • Describing Unbound Academy's virtual structure and enrollment procedures using straightforward, accessible language
  • Maintaining disciplined follow-up to advance families from inquiry through application to final enrollment
  • Recording all interactions in a CRM with precise notes, defined next steps, and current pipeline status
  • Planning and conducting local recruitment events in Texas or Arizona to introduce the school and collect new leads

What you will NOT be doing

  • Allowing inbound leads to remain uncontacted while handling administrative tasks
  • Reading from fixed scripts or functioning like a high-throughput call center
  • Participating in events without actively presenting or pursuing lead generation
  • Dedicating most of your time to back-office responsibilities during periods of active enrollment demand

Key responsibilities

Transform family interest into qualified, well-informed applicants who successfully complete enrollment at Unbound Academy.

Candidate requirements

  • Located in Arizona and available for a hybrid work arrangement
  • 1–2 years of experience in customer service or another role involving direct customer interaction
  • Background working with children or families (including schools, camps, childcare, tutoring, or comparable settings)
  • Confident making regular phone calls and leading families through multi-step procedures
  • Effective verbal communication skills with the capacity to establish trust rapidly
  • Working knowledge of CRM systems or digital tools for lead tracking

Nice to have

  • Background in admissions, enrollment, inside sales, or lead qualification functions
  • Experience organizing or presenting at community events or outreach initiatives
  • Academic background or coursework in communications, education, or a related discipline
