Player Development Coach   $150,000 USD/year

Competing at the pinnacle of sport—as an Olympian, World Champion, or D1 First Team All-American—demands exceptional discipline. The question is whether you can convert that experience into concrete coaching methods that elevate students into top performers.

Texas Sports Academy is where your competitive background becomes a tool for building champions. This role requires active coaching and daily engagement that drives students past their perceived boundaries. You will not simply recount your achievements. Instead, you will convert elite-level discipline into practical motivation frameworks, deliver resilience training through interactive sessions, and lead intensive practices where championship standards apply to every participant.

Austin provides year-round access to outdoor training facilities, a dynamic sports ecosystem, and a purpose-driven environment where your competitive pedigree directly shapes emerging leaders.

Lead with intention. Drive transformation. Submit your application today.

What you will be doing

  • Conducting proactive one-on-one motivation sessions that convert your competitive discipline into targeted, practical coaching approaches
  • Delivering high-energy morning assemblies that activate the full student community
  • Leading interactive life skill workshops where you guide students through exercises focused on resilience, leadership, and structured goal achievement
  • Directing organized afternoon athletic training that embodies championship principles: creating drills, demanding maximum effort, refining technique, and instilling grit and collaboration through sport (not mere supervision)
  • Actively connecting with every student across the school day: moving through independent study periods, stepping in to encourage students facing obstacles, and generating teachable moments that spark breakthrough progress

What you will NOT be doing

  • Observing from the sidelines in a symbolic capacity: this role demands active participation on the floor, leading sessions, and real-time intervention with students.
  • Delivering traditional classroom instruction or adhering to academic curricula: students progress through adaptive software. Your focus is life coaching, motivational guidance, and developing meta-skills via sport and direct mentorship.

Key responsibilities

In the role of Elite Guide, you are accountable for transforming Austin-based student-athletes into high-caliber learners and leaders by converting elite competitive discipline into everyday motivation, life-skills instruction, and structured athletic practice within a rigorous school setting.

  • Take ownership of daily student motivation by assessing progress, identifying obstacles, and guiding students toward defined academic and personal objectives.
  • Facilitate dynamic morning assemblies that establish a focused, high-performance mindset for the day ahead.
  • Conduct life-skills training sessions that cultivate resilience, leadership, discipline, and accountability through narrative, reflection, and engaged student involvement.
  • Execute structured afternoon athletic programs where drills, practice routines, and competition reinforce perseverance, teamwork, and elevated expectations.
  • Leverage student performance data and daily observations to intervene promptly when students show disengagement, stagnation, or underperformance.

Candidate requirements

  • We're seeking former elite athletes who have proven themselves at the very top of sport — Olympians, World Champions, pro players in the NFL, NBA, MLB, MLS, or NHL, or NCAA Division I All-Americans
  • Bachelor's degree in any subject
  • Proven experience using sport to mentor and coach life skills
  • Demonstrated motivational leadership in athletic, academic, or professional settings
  • Legal right to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship
  • Willing to live in or relocate to Austin, TX
