Entrepreneurship Program Director   $250,000 USD/year

Description

Your job is to develop founders, not deliver lectures.

Many believe high school exists to prepare students for what's ahead. We believe what's ahead begins today. Founders School is a four-year secondary institution designed for students unwilling to postpone meaningful work until they reach adulthood. These students aren't working through hypothetical case studies. They're building actual companies, collaborating with seasoned entrepreneurs, becoming fluent in AI, and tackling challenges that carry real weight. The commitment we make is substantial because the students we serve are driven: launch a million-dollar enterprise, pinpoint problems worthy of their attention, and achieve AI mastery ahead of their elders. Your mission is to make that level of ambition durable.

You won't stand in front of classrooms or dictate how students should operate their ventures. Instead, you'll mentor a cohort of young company builders daily, ensuring they remain accountable, navigate failures, and maintain momentum when entrepreneurship becomes demanding. You'll recognize the moment to push them, when to offer encouragement, and when to introduce them to the appropriate mentor or tool. The structured program, Entrepreneurs-in-Residence, and founder community deliver the technical startup knowledge. You deliver the reliability, rigor, and drive that convert promise into measurable achievement.

This position also represents a chance to contribute to an institution in its earliest days. As part of the founding team launching our New York City campus, you'll influence the cultural DNA, operational frameworks, and student experience of a school built to challenge conventional thinking about secondary education outcomes. Your contributions won't be limited to a single class. They will inform the operating model for every subsequent Founders School location. If you're drawn to the startup ecosystem, believe that elevated expectations yield elevated performance, and want to dedicate yourself to cultivating the entrepreneurs of tomorrow, we're eager to connect.

What you will be doing

  • Mentor and drive a group of student entrepreneurs through structured weekly one-on-one sessions, daily progress reviews, and collective stand-up meetings that ensure continuous forward movement.
  • Maintain an extraordinarily high standard for performance while delivering the guidance and accountability required to help students work through roadblocks and continue building.
  • Track student development using FounderOS, recognize when momentum stalls, and facilitate introductions to mentors, Entrepreneurs-in-Residence, or other assets that catalyze their advancement.
  • Contribute to shaping the culture, rituals, programming, events, and operational cadence of an elite entrepreneurial secondary school.
  • Accompany students on multiple trips annually while cultivating enduring connections with founders, investors, business operators, and entrepreneurial families.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Serving as the lead business advisor or crafting commercial strategies for students. That responsibility belongs to FounderOS, Entrepreneurs-in-Residence, and external mentors.
  • Delivering conventional academic instruction or evaluating traditional coursework.
  • Tolerating mediocre output from students with the capacity for excellence.
  • Facilitating sessions beyond your competency areas or depending on one-size-fits-all entrepreneurial guidance.
  • Operating within an inflexible institutional structure where procedural red tape undermines student success.

Key responsibilities

Establish conditions where each student advances consistently as an entrepreneur by integrating outstanding mentorship, rigorous accountability, strategic networking, and a culture that transforms ambitious adolescents into competent business builders.

Candidate requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years in leadership roles or high-impact positions within a startup or fast-growing enterprise.
  • Sound business acumen and the confidence to interact meaningfully with early-stage entrepreneurs while understanding when to bring in specialized expertise.
  • Proven capacity to mentor, inspire, and maintain accountability among high-performing individuals.
  • Active, daily use of AI tools to enhance both the efficiency and quality of your outputs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities when working with students, families, mentors, and business founders.
  • Availability for full-time, in-person work at our New York City location, including periodic travel during the year.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Nice to have

  • Direct experience founding or co-founding a company.
  • Background in coaching, mentoring, or managing programs serving teenagers or young adults.
  • An active professional network including founders, investors, operators, or mentors.
  • Prior work in early-stage ventures where you routinely handled responsibilities across different functional areas.
