Founder Coach   $250,000 USD/year

Description

Develop entrepreneurs, not curriculum.

Most assume high school exists to ready students for what's ahead. We believe what's ahead begins today. Founders School is a four-year high school designed for students unwilling to delay building something significant until they become adults. These students aren't completing simulated business exercises. They're creating real companies, collaborating with established founders, becoming fluent in AI, and addressing challenges that hold weight. Our expectations are high because our students are: launch a million-dollar business, surface problems that deserve solutions, and achieve AI mastery ahead of the adult curve. Your responsibility is to make that level of ambition endure.

You won't deliver traditional lessons or dictate how students should operate their ventures. Instead, you'll coach a cohort of emerging founders daily, ensuring they remain accountable, navigate obstacles, and maintain forward momentum when entrepreneurship becomes demanding. You'll recognize when to push them harder, when to offer encouragement, and when to facilitate introductions to the appropriate mentor or tool. The curriculum, Entrepreneurs-in-Residence, and founder community supply the startup knowledge. You supply the structure, rigor, and drive that convert capability into achievement.

This role also represents a chance to contribute to something in its earliest form. As part of our founding team in New York City, you'll influence the culture, processes, and lived reality of a school built to transform what high school can deliver. Your contributions won't merely affect a single student group. They'll inform the framework for every Founders School campus launched thereafter. If startups excite you, you're convinced that exceptional standards yield exceptional performance, and you're ready to channel your efforts into cultivating the next wave of entrepreneurs, we want to hear from you.

What you will be doing

  • Provide coaching and motivation to a group of student founders via weekly 1:1 sessions, daily touchpoints, and team stand-ups that ensure continuous, tangible advancement.
  • Maintain an extraordinarily high standard for execution while offering the guidance and accountability students require to push through roadblocks and sustain their work.
  • Track student performance using FounderOS, recognize when progress stalls, and introduce them to mentors, Entrepreneurs-in-Residence, or additional resources that speed their development.
  • Contribute to shaping the culture, rituals, workshops, programming, and everyday operational cadence of an elite entrepreneurial high school.
  • Accompany students on travel experiences multiple times annually while cultivating enduring relationships with founders, investors, operators, and entrepreneurial families.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Serving as the lead startup advisor or crafting business strategies for students. FounderOS, Entrepreneurs-in-Residence, and visiting mentors handle that function.
  • Delivering conventional academic instruction or evaluating academic assignments.
  • Tolerating mediocre effort from students with the capacity for outstanding work.
  • Leading workshops beyond your domain of expertise or defaulting to generic entrepreneurial guidance.
  • Operating within an inflexible school bureaucracy where red tape undermines meaningful student progress.

Key responsibilities

Foster an environment in which each student reliably develops as an entrepreneur through outstanding coaching, rigorous accountability, strategic connections, and a culture that transforms ambitious teenagers into competent founders.

Candidate requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years in leadership or high-impact roles at a startup or high-growth company.
  • Solid business acumen and the confidence to interact productively with early-stage founders while recognizing when to bring in domain experts.
  • Proven capacity to coach, inspire, and maintain high accountability for high-performing individuals.
  • Regular, practical use of AI to enhance both the quality and efficiency of your output.
  • Exceptional skills in communication and relationship development with students, families, mentors, and founders.
  • Commitment to full-time, on-site work in New York City, with periodic travel during the year.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Nice to have

  • Founding or co-founding experience in a business venture.
  • Background in coaching, mentoring, or leading initiatives for teenagers or young adults.
  • A developed network of founders, investors, operators, or mentors.
  • Startup experience in early stages where you routinely worked across diverse functions.
