Athletic Director   $150,000 USD/year

Description

  • On-site at an Alpha campus: Dallas, TX · Oklahoma City, OK · Austin, TX · Keller (Fort Worth), TX · The Woodlands (Houston), TX
  • $150,000/year W2 salary, paid weekly. Day-one health benefits.
  • Relocation support available

The most meaningful support you can offer a student who scored 99% is to tell them they fell short.

Not because perfection is the goal. Because genuine belief in someone's capacity to improve represents one of the highest forms of respect.

Most educational institutions shield students from failure. Alpha equips them for success. We hold that confidence doesn't emerge from reduced expectations. It develops when students accomplish goals they initially believed were beyond their capabilities. This conviction informs every choice we make.

Our approach is intentionally distinct. Students achieve academic mastery independently through AI-powered platforms, which allows adults to concentrate on transformational work: coaching character, cultivating resilience, fostering leadership, and establishing habits that produce remarkable outcomes. We don't require adults to transmit content. We need leaders who understand how to unlock human potential.

This position anchors that mission. You'll develop the Guides who engage directly with students, transforming them into outstanding coaches rather than traditional instructors. You'll facilitate life skills workshops that students recall years afterward. You'll analyze performance data to pinpoint where students or Guides are underperforming and coach them toward excellence. You'll also maintain your own student cohort, ensuring you model the standards you uphold.

The impact multiplies significantly. Each Guide you develop influences dozens of students. Every enhancement you introduce to your campus culture scales across hundreds of young lives. Success isn't defined by meeting attendance or report production. It's determined by whether students become more confident, disciplined, resilient, and capable as a result of the culture you shaped.

This isn't a position for someone seeking to maintain the existing education system. It's designed for someone who believes young people merit more than compliance, seat time, and mediocre expectations. If you're motivated by coaching individuals through challenging obstacles, leveraging data to inform superior decisions, and maintaining elevated standards because you authentically believe in others' potential, you'll excel here.

Apply if you're prepared to establish a culture where excellence is the norm, coaching transforms lives, and students realize they're capable of achievements far beyond their initial perception.

What you will be doing

  • Develop and coach Guides to execute Alpha's coaching model with consistency, enthusiasm, and unwavering standards.
  • Facilitate compelling life skills workshops addressing communication, focus, feedback, leadership, and resilience for K-8 students using established playbooks.
  • Analyze student and Guide performance data to surface coaching opportunities, eliminate obstacles, and generate measurable progress each week.
  • Deliver motivation sessions that empower every student to claim ownership of ambitious objectives and reliably accomplish them.
  • Sustain your own student cohort while exemplifying the coaching quality and accountability you require from every Guide.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Delivering instruction in academic subjects. Students pursue core academics independently via AI-powered learning platforms.
  • Developing lesson plans or creating curriculum. Your responsibility is outstanding coaching, not producing instructional content.
  • Controlling classrooms through lectures, worksheets, or behavior management systems. Students direct their learning, and you coach the habits that enable success.
  • Reducing expectations to sidestep challenging discussions. Elevated standards and authentic belief in each student's capabilities are inseparable.
  • Defining success by activity volume rather than outcomes. Results carry greater weight than effort by itself.

Key responsibilities

Establish a coaching culture in which outstanding Guides reliably develop students who are enthusiastic about school, achieve academic mastery at an accelerated rate, and cultivate the resilience, leadership, and life skills necessary to thrive well beyond the classroom.

Candidate requirements

  • Willing to work on campus in Dallas, TX; Oklahoma City, OK; Austin, TX; Keller (Fort Worth), TX; or The Woodlands (Houston), TX (relocation support provided).
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Business, Organizational Leadership, or a related field.
5+ years of experience leading adults in education, learning and development, youth leadership, coaching, or a comparable performance-driven environment.
  • Demonstrated success managing a team of five or more people, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and difficult accountability conversations.
  • Experience working directly with children ages 5-14 in an educational, developmental, athletic, or youth leadership setting.
  • Track record of building, launching, scaling, or significantly improving a program, team, school, business, or initiative.
  • Proven ability to use performance metrics and data to diagnose problems, prioritize actions, and deliver measurable results.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.

Nice to have

  • Master's degree in Education, Psychology, Organizational Leadership, or a related field.
  • Experience coaching athletics, leading outdoor or experiential education, directing camps, youth programs, or other cohort-based organizations.
  • Experience building or leading innovative education, EdTech, tutoring, nonprofit, or learning programs outside traditional classroom teaching.
  • Personal history of exceptional achievement in academics, athletics, entrepreneurship, or leadership.
  • Strong conviction that education should develop capable, resilient, independent young people rather than simply deliver academic content.
