Lead Product Architect   $400,000 USD/year

Description

2 Hour Learning seeks a technical product leader to spearhead the architectural evolution of our AI-driven learning platform. This position demands someone with the technical depth to function as a CTO, the product acumen to catalyze transformational outcomes, and the dedication to deploy those capabilities toward unlocking student achievement at scale.

Unlike most organizations that layer AI atop conventional educational frameworks as an add-on, 2 Hour Learning has taken a fundamentally different approach: we reconstructed the school experience from first principles, leveraging AI and learning science to eliminate the limitations inherent in traditional classrooms. Our students don't merely progress — they excel, earning multiple 4s and 5s on AP exams, demonstrating multi-year academic advancement within a single year, and routinely surpassing their own projected performance. We have established that when AI serves as the foundational operating system for learning, student performance reaches exceptional levels.

This position diverges from conventional product management roles centered on customer feedback cycles or gradual feature iteration. Instead, this is an executive-level technical product ownership role in which you will command the architecture, technical roadmap, and AI integration across our complete learning infrastructure. Your mandate includes navigating complex technical tradeoffs to ensure our products remain lean, scalable, and uncompromisingly centered on elevating student results. You will operate with the mindset of a CTO while maintaining the velocity of a product entrepreneur, synthesizing engineering rigor with learning science principles to consistently deliver breakthroughs.

If you are prepared to lead the technical transformation of education and possess the execution discipline to realize that vision, we invite your application. This is your chance to architect the future of learning.

What you will be doing

  • Building and applying comprehensive education product expertise to inform strategic direction
  • Creating technical specifications that drive critical technical decisions while prioritizing simplicity, operational efficiency, and sustainable architecture
  • Deploying generative AI capabilities to automate and optimize engineering workflows, consistent with the strategic objective of minimizing manual effort

What you will NOT be doing

  • Exclusively managing people; your technical and business judgment will be the primary focus of this role
  • Spending time on meetings, committees, and bureaucratic overhead; we have streamlined management processes so you can concentrate on delivering business impact through direct contribution
  • Proposing abstract strategies without actionable implementation paths; your guidance must emerge from product-level understanding

Key responsibilities

  • Serve as the CTO for one or more education products, commanding core technical capabilities and generating business value through flawless execution and strategic leadership

Candidate requirements

  • Substantial experience or demonstrated interest in data-driven learning science
  • 7+ years of experience leading critical architecture and design decisions on software projects, including the application of architecture design patterns or major open source technologies
  • 2+ years of experience making design decisions that involve cloud computing services (primarily AWS)
  • 4+ years of experience in roles with complete technical and delivery accountability for a revenue-generating product
  • Experience developing product features that leverage advanced Generative AI capabilities
  • Experience applying Generative AI to streamline work processes
