Principal Product Architect   $400,000 USD/year

Description

This is a role for a technical product leader who seeks to drive the transformation of education through artificial intelligence. 2 Hour Learning is seeking a Principal Product Architect to spearhead the evolution of our AI-driven learning platform. The position requires the technical depth to operate at a CTO level, the strategic vision to catalyze systemic change, and the commitment to apply these capabilities toward scaling student success like never before.

While most organizations add AI as a superficial layer to conventional education frameworks, 2 Hour Learning has taken a fundamentally different approach: we have reconstructed the educational model from first principles, leveraging AI and learning science to eliminate the limitations inherent in traditional classrooms. Our students do not merely improve—they excel, earning multiple scores of 4 and 5 on AP examinations, demonstrating multi-year academic gains within a single year, and routinely exceeding their own projected outcomes. We have validated that when AI functions as the foundational architecture of learning, student performance accelerates dramatically.

This is not a conventional product management position centered on user feedback cycles or iterative feature releases. This is an executive-level technical product ownership role in which you will control the architecture, technical roadmap, and AI integration across our complete learning infrastructure. You will be accountable for navigating complex technical tradeoffs to keep our products streamlined, scalable, and relentlessly optimized for student achievement. You will operate with the mindset of a CTO while maintaining the velocity of a product entrepreneur, synthesizing engineering rigor with learning science principles to deliver continuous innovation.

If you are prepared to lead the technical transformation of education and possess the operational discipline to realize that vision, we invite your application. This is your chance to architect the future of learning.

What you will be doing

  • Cultivating and applying comprehensive education product expertise to inform strategic direction
  • Creating technical specifications that drive critical technical decisions while prioritizing simplicity, operational efficiency, and sustainable long-term architecture
  • Deploying generative AI capabilities to automate and optimize engineering workflows, in alignment with the organizational objective of minimizing manual intervention

What you will NOT be doing

  • Traditional people management; this position emphasizes your business insight and technical expertise
  • Spending time on meetings, committees, or administrative overhead; we have streamlined management processes to allow you to concentrate on delivering business impact through direct execution
  • Articulating high-level strategies detached from execution; your guidance must be grounded in product-level understanding

Key responsibilities

  • Serve as the CTO for one or more education products, owning foundational capabilities and generating business value through flawless execution and strategic leadership

Candidate requirements

  • Substantial experience or demonstrated interest in data-driven learning science
  • 7+ years of experience making critical architecture and design decisions on software projects, including the application of architectural design patterns or major open source technologies
  • 2+ years of experience making design decisions that involve cloud computing services (primarily AWS)
  • 4+ years of experience in roles with complete technical and delivery accountability for a revenue-generating product
  • Experience developing product features that leverage advanced applications of Generative AI
  • Experience applying Generative AI to streamline and simplify work processes
