Director of AI Product Management   $400,000 USD/year

Description

Are you a technical product leader with deep engineering acumen who is ready to drive the AI transformation of education? 2 Hour Learning seeks a technical architect to spearhead the evolution of our AI-driven learning platform. This position demands the technical precision of a CTO, the strategic foresight of a product visionary, and the commitment to deploy those capabilities in unlocking student achievement at scale.

Most organizations graft AI onto conventional education frameworks as a superficial addition. 2 Hour Learning has taken a fundamentally different approach: we have reconstructed the entire school experience from first principles, leveraging AI and learning science to eliminate the limitations inherent in traditional classrooms. Our students don't simply progress — they excel, earning multiple 4s and 5s on AP exams, demonstrating multi-year academic gains within a single year, and routinely surpassing their own projected outcomes. We have demonstrated that when AI functions as the foundational operating system for learning, student performance accelerates dramatically.

This is not a conventional product management position centered on customer feedback cycles or gradual feature releases. This is an executive-level technical product ownership role in which you will control the architecture, technical roadmap, and AI integration across our complete learning ecosystem. You will be accountable for the critical technical trade-offs that keep our products lean, scalable, and relentlessly optimized for student outcomes. You will operate with the mindset of a CTO while executing with the agility of a product entrepreneur, merging engineering discipline with learning science principles to deliver continuous innovation.

If you are prepared to lead the technical transformation of education and possess the operational discipline to realize that vision, we invite you to apply. This is your chance to architect the future of learning.

What you will be doing

  • Building and maintaining deep expertise in education product design to inform strategic direction
  • Creating technical specifications that embed critical technical decisions and emphasize simplicity, efficiency, and sustainable architecture
  • Deploying generative AI capabilities to automate and optimize engineering workflows, consistent with the strategic objective of minimizing manual effort

What you will NOT be doing

  • Managing teams as your primary function; your technical and business insight are the core contributions in this role
  • Spending time in meetings, committees, or administrative overhead; we have streamlined management processes so you can concentrate on delivering business value through direct execution
  • Formulating high-level strategies disconnected from execution; your guidance must be grounded in product-level detail

Key responsibilities

  • Serve as the CTO for one or more education products, holding ownership of core capabilities and generating business value through flawless execution and strategic leadership

Candidate requirements

  • Deep experience or strong interest in data-driven learning science
  • 7+ years of experience making critical architecture and design decisions on software projects, including the application of architecture design patterns or major open source technologies
  • 2+ years of experience making design decisions that involve cloud computing services (primarily AWS)
  • 4+ years of experience in roles with complete technical and delivery accountability for a revenue-generating product
  • Experience developing product features that leverage advanced Generative AI capabilities
  • Experience applying Generative AI to streamline and simplify work processes
