Director of Product Architecture   $400,000 USD/year

Description

Are you a technical product leader with the depth to architect transformational systems and the vision to reimagine education through artificial intelligence? 2 Hour Learning seeks an architect-level leader to drive the evolution of our AI-driven learning platform. This position demands the technical precision of a CTO, the strategic foresight to champion systemic innovation, and the dedication to unlock student achievement at scale.

While most organizations layer AI onto legacy educational frameworks as a superficial enhancement, 2 Hour Learning has taken a fundamentally different path: we have reconstructed schooling from first principles, leveraging AI and cognitive science to eliminate the limitations inherent in conventional classrooms. The results speak for themselves — our students don't merely advance, they excel, earning numerous 4s and 5s on AP assessments, demonstrating years of academic progress within single terms, and surpassing their own projected capabilities. We have validated that when artificial intelligence serves as the foundational infrastructure of education, outcomes reach extraordinary levels.

This is not a conventional product management position centered on feedback iteration or gradual enhancement cycles. This is an executive-level technical product ownership role in which you will command the architecture, technical direction, and AI strategy across our complete learning ecosystem. Your mandate will be to navigate complex technical tradeoffs that keep our products streamlined, scalable, and unwaveringly centered on elevating student performance. You will operate with the mindset of a CTO while maintaining the velocity of a product innovator, synthesizing engineering discipline with pedagogical insights to sustain continuous advancement.

If you are prepared to spearhead the technical transformation of education and possess the operational resolve to realize that vision, we invite your application. This is your chance to architect the next generation of learning.

What you will be doing

  • Building and demonstrating comprehensive expertise in education product domains to inform strategic choices
  • Authoring technical specifications that resolve critical architectural decisions and emphasize simplicity, performance, and sustainability
  • Deploying generative AI capabilities to automate and optimize engineering workflows, supporting the organizational goal of minimizing manual effort

What you will NOT be doing

  • Exclusive people management; this role prioritizes your technical and business judgment
  • Spending time on meetings, committees, or administrative overhead; our automated management systems free you to deliver tangible business impact through direct contribution
  • Abstract strategic recommendations without actionable implementation detail; your guidance must be grounded in product-level understanding

Key responsibilities

  • Serve as the CTO for one or more education products, holding ownership of core capabilities and generating business value through flawless execution and strategic leadership

Candidate requirements

  • 7+ years of experience driving critical architecture and design choices on software initiatives, including application of architectural design patterns or major open source technologies
  • 4+ years of experience in roles with complete technical and delivery accountability for a revenue-generating product
  • Demonstrated experience leveraging AI agents to design, build, and test software products or features
