VP of Capital Projects   $200,000 USD/year

Description

Opening one school is manageable. Repeating it with speed, consistency, and continuous improvement is a different challenge entirely.

2 Hour Learning is creating a nationwide network of schools built on a model that condenses a complete day of education into two concentrated hours through AI. Scaling this model demands the same precision in expansion that defines the educational product. This position ensures that outcome. You will take ownership of the complete lifecycle of new campus locations—from undeveloped sites to fully functioning schools—while simultaneously constructing the frameworks that accelerate each launch, reduce complexity, and enhance predictability.

This role is not a conventional development position. Your purpose is not simply project oversight. Your purpose is to remove obstacles from the expansion process. That involves making critical decisions on site suitability, intervening directly in permitting and construction challenges, conducting vendor negotiations, and maintaining aggressive timelines. Concurrently, you will decompose every element of this workflow into organized, AI-enhanced systems that minimize manual intervention and strengthen forecasting precision over successive iterations.

If you have delivered real builds and find yourself constrained by protracted schedules, diffused accountability, and recurring errors, this is your opportunity to solve those problems—at meaningful scale.

What you will be doing

  • Validate site viability through structured and AI-supported evaluation of zoning, permitting requirements, cost projections, and timeline feasibility to inform high-impact site decisions
  • Maintain oversight of multiple concurrent school construction projects, coordinating construction managers, eliminating roadblocks, and delivering on-time, on-budget campus openings
  • Create comprehensive, decision-oriented capital project proposals that establish alignment among stakeholders on scope, budget, and implementation approach
  • Direct vendor qualification, RFP processes, and contract negotiations with emphasis on accelerated delivery, quality standards, and cost discipline
  • Break down expansion processes into discrete operational units and implement AI-powered systems that reduce cycle times and increase execution reliability

What you will NOT be doing

  • Functioning as a detached project coordinator awaiting status reports from contractors or external partners
  • Limiting your focus to a single stage (such as site selection or construction alone) rather than taking accountability for complete delivery
  • Depending on improvised, unstructured methods that require reinvention for each new site
  • Handing off permitting, design, or construction obstacles without direct involvement in their resolution
  • Consuming extended periods seeking stakeholder consensus without producing clear, actionable decisions

Key responsibilities

Take full ownership of end-to-end expansion for new school sites by delivering operational campuses on reliable schedules while systematically decreasing time-to-open, capital expenditure, and execution risk through AI-enabled processes.

Candidate requirements

  • Verified track record leading at least one real estate development or construction initiative from initial site selection through operational launch with complete accountability
  • Background managing multiple simultaneous construction or capital initiatives with direct responsibility for schedule adherence, team coordination, and obstacle resolution
  • Deep working knowledge of zoning regulations, permitting procedures, construction management, and vendor partnerships, including direct engagement with general contractors, architects, and regulatory bodies
  • Proven capability making balanced tradeoff judgments across budget, schedule, and technical feasibility with documented, quantifiable results
  • Experience refining or systematizing multifaceted operational processes (such as permit acquisition, design alignment, or construction delivery)
  • Demonstrated skill decomposing intricate workflows into structured, replicable frameworks and iterating on them for continuous improvement
  • Track record leveraging technology solutions (AI-based or conventional) to minimize manual overhead, expedite decision cycles, or enhance operational velocity
  • Strong ownership orientation with comfort operating under ambiguity and delivering tangible, real-world results
  • Capacity and readiness to travel up to 60% to construction sites throughout the United States and maintain on-site presence during pivotal development and launch phases
  • Current US residency and authorization to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship
