VP of Construction Management   $200,000 USD/year

Description

Opening one school is straightforward. Opening them consistently, on schedule, and with improving efficiency is not.

2 Hour Learning is creating a nationwide school network that delivers a complete day of instruction in two concentrated hours through AI technology. This approach requires expansion processes as precise as the educational model. This role ensures that outcome. You will control every stage of new school site development—from initial location to fully functioning campus—while creating systems that make successive openings faster, more efficient, and increasingly reliable.

This is not a conventional development position. You are not here simply to oversee projects. You are here to remove obstacles from growth. That requires decisive judgment on site feasibility, direct engagement with permitting and construction challenges, vendor negotiation, and timeline management with urgency. Simultaneously, you will decompose each process element into systematic, AI-enabled workflows that minimize manual intervention and enhance forecast precision continuously.

If you have delivered real construction projects and are dissatisfied with prolonged schedules, unclear accountability, and recurring errors, this is your opportunity to solve those problems—at scale.

What you will be doing

  • Validate site viability through structured and AI-assisted evaluation of zoning, permitting requirements, cost projections, and timeline constraints to inform high-stakes location decisions
  • Manage multiple school construction projects concurrently, directing construction managers, removing obstacles, and delivering on-time, on-budget campus openings
  • Create comprehensive capital project proposals that provide stakeholders with actionable clarity on scope, budget, and execution approach
  • Oversee vendor selection processes, RFPs, and contract negotiations prioritizing speed, quality standards, and cost discipline
  • Break down expansion processes into discrete operational units and implement AI-powered systems that reduce delivery timelines and increase predictability

What you will NOT be doing

  • Functioning as a passive coordinator who waits for status reports from contractors or external partners
  • Focusing narrowly on a single phase (such as site acquisition or construction only) without accountability for complete outcomes
  • Depending on informal, one-off methods that require reinvention for each new site
  • Transferring issues upward without personally addressing permitting, design, or construction obstacles
  • Consuming extended periods in stakeholder alignment without driving timely decisions

Key responsibilities

Take full ownership of new school location expansion by delivering operational campuses on reliable schedules while systematically decreasing time, cost, and risk through the deployment of AI-driven operational systems.

Candidate requirements

  • Documented experience leading at least one complete real estate development or construction project from site identification through operational launch with end-to-end ownership
  • Track record managing multiple simultaneous construction or capital projects with direct accountability for scheduling, coordination, and problem resolution
  • Deep working knowledge of zoning regulations, permitting procedures, construction processes, and vendor management, including direct interaction with general contractors, architects, and regulatory authorities
  • Proven capability to make informed tradeoff decisions balancing cost, schedule, and feasibility with quantifiable results
  • Experience refining or systematizing complex operational processes (such as permitting workflows, design coordination, or construction execution)
  • Proven ability to decompose intricate workflows into structured, scalable systems and continuously optimize them
  • Track record of leveraging tools (AI-based or otherwise) to minimize manual effort, expedite decision cycles, or enhance execution velocity
  • Strong ownership orientation with capability to navigate ambiguity and deliver tangible outcomes
  • Capacity and willingness to travel up to 60% to active construction sites nationwide and be present on-site during pivotal development and opening phases
  • Currently based in the United States and authorized to work without requiring visa sponsorship
