Field Project Manager   $100,000 USD/year

Description

Most construction project roles require you to execute a plan. This one requires you to control the schedule—and correct it when circumstances disrupt it.

2 Hour Learning is expanding a nationwide microschool network engineered to compress a full learning day into two hours through AI. That model requires speed and accuracy in physical execution. Every permitting holdup, every on-site sequencing error, every communication breakdown slows growth. This role is designed to prevent those breakdowns and transform construction into a reliable, scalable process.

You will be in the field driving builds forward. Managing contractors. Holding teams to deadlines. Resolving sequencing conflicts before they cascade into delays. At the same time, you will leverage AI and digital platforms to cut manual overhead, increase transparency, and accelerate delivery. This is not observational oversight. You are the person who intervenes when schedules falter and restores momentum.

If you have construction exposure but have been held back by weak coordination, unclear accountability, or perpetual crisis management, this is your opportunity to take ownership and execute correctly—at scale.

What you will be doing

  • Manage on-site construction operations, collaborating directly with contractors to ensure tasks are completed in proper order and on time
  • Take full ownership of project schedules, monitoring key milestones, spotting risks proactively, and leading corrective measures when slippage happens
  • Leverage platforms such as Procore, Asana, or MS Project to organize tasks, maintain documentation, and track progress across live projects
  • Facilitate permitting processes by monitoring submissions, addressing reviewer feedback, and aligning stakeholders to advance approvals
  • Deploy AI tools to streamline planning, record-keeping, and decision workflows, minimizing manual work and boosting execution velocity

What you will NOT be doing

  • Monitoring dashboards from a distance without stepping in when schedules begin to drift
  • Overseeing projects at a conceptual level without engaging with field conditions and sequencing realities
  • Depending on legacy manual methods to document progress or coordinate with teams
  • Sidestepping tough discussions with contractors or stakeholders when timelines are jeopardized
  • Delaying action on problems while waiting for complete information

Key responsibilities

Ensure on-time delivery of school construction projects by directly managing field coordination, maintaining schedule discipline, and enhancing speed and consistency through technology and AI.

Candidate requirements

  • Hands-on construction execution experience (field coordination, contractor oversight, or schedule management) with the capacity to detail a specific project, your responsibilities, and how you navigated execution obstacles
  • Track record of owning or supporting a project schedule, including building timelines, monitoring milestones, and holding teams accountable, with at least one example of addressing a delay or scope change
  • Competence with at least one digital project management platform (e.g., Procore, Asana, MS Project) and the ability to describe its application on an actual project
  • Understanding of construction trade sequencing and the ability to recount a scenario where sequencing choices influenced project timing
  • Functional knowledge of permitting processes (submissions, reviews, revisions, AHJ coordination) with firsthand participation in at least one cycle
  • Proven application of AI tools to speed up real tasks, including a concrete example of the tool applied, the output created, and how accuracy was confirmed
  • Availability and readiness to be on-site at least 3 days per week, with roughly 60% travel throughout the United States depending on project requirements
  • Based in the United States and eligible to work without requiring visa sponsorship

Nice to have

  • Experience managing multiple construction projects simultaneously
  • Background in accelerated or high-growth construction settings where schedules are tightly compressed
  • Enthusiasm for refining construction workflows through automation or process optimization
