Field Project Manager   $100,000 USD/year

Description

Most construction positions require plan adherence. This role demands timeline ownership—and the ability to recover when reality disrupts it.

2 Hour Learning is building a nationwide microschool network engineered to compress a full day of education into two hours through AI. That vision relies on speed and accuracy in physical execution. Each permitting holdup, every on-site sequencing error, every dropped coordination point decelerates growth. This position eliminates those breakdowns and converts construction into a predictable, scalable process.

You will be in the field driving builds forward. Managing contractors. Holding schedules. Resolving sequencing conflicts before they cascade into delays. Simultaneously, you will deploy AI and digital platforms to strip out manual overhead, increase transparency, and boost delivery speed. This is not observational oversight. You are the person who intervenes when schedules drift and restores forward momentum.

If you have worked near construction but felt constrained by fragmented coordination, inconsistent accountability, or perpetual crisis response, this is your opportunity to assume control and execute properly—at meaningful scale.

What you will be doing

  • Manage on-site construction operations, engaging contractors directly to maintain proper sequencing and adherence to schedule
  • Control and enforce project schedules, monitoring key milestones, surfacing risks proactively, and executing corrective measures when slippage occurs
  • Leverage platforms such as Procore, Asana, or MS Project to organize tasks, manage documentation, and monitor progress across live projects
  • Facilitate permitting processes by monitoring submissions, addressing agency feedback, and aligning stakeholders to advance approvals
  • Integrate AI capabilities to streamline planning, documentation, and decision workflows, cutting manual workload and accelerating delivery

What you will NOT be doing

  • Operating from behind dashboards, passively monitoring status without stepping in when schedules begin to slip
  • Overseeing projects from a distance without grasping field conditions and the realities of trade sequencing
  • Depending on legacy, manual tracking methods to document progress or maintain team communication
  • Sidestepping tough discussions with contractors or stakeholders when schedule commitments are threatened
  • Delaying action on issues while waiting for complete information to materialize

Key responsibilities

Ensure on-time delivery of school construction projects by directly managing field coordination, maintaining schedule discipline, and enhancing speed and consistency through digital tools and AI integration.

Candidate requirements

  • Hands-on construction execution experience (field coordination, contractor oversight, or schedule management) with the ability to detail a particular project, your contribution, and how you navigated execution obstacles
  • Track record of owning or coordinating a project schedule, including building timelines, monitoring milestones, and enforcing due dates, with at least one instance of addressing a delay or variance
  • Working proficiency in at least one digital project management platform (e.g., Procore, Asana, MS Project) and the capacity to explain its application on an actual project
  • Understanding of construction trade sequencing with the ability to recount a scenario where sequencing choices affected the project schedule
  • Practical knowledge of permitting procedures (submissions, reviews, modifications, AHJ engagement) with direct participation in at least one cycle
  • Proven application of AI tools to expedite actual work outputs, including a concrete example of the tool deployed, the result produced, and the validation method used
  • Availability and readiness to be on-site a minimum of 3 days per week, with roughly 60% travel throughout the United States driven by project requirements
  • Based in the United States with authorization to work independent of visa sponsorship

Nice to have

  • Background managing multiple overlapping construction projects simultaneously
  • Familiarity with rapid-growth or fast-tracked construction settings where schedules are heavily accelerated
  • Motivation to enhance construction workflows through automation or process refinement
