Commercial Construction Project Manager   $100,000 USD/year

Description

Most construction project managers follow plans. This role requires you to control the schedule—and recover it when circumstances disrupt it.

2 Hour Learning is building a nationwide network of microschools that deliver a complete day of education in two hours using AI. This model relies on rapid, accurate execution in the physical world. Every permitting delay, every on-site sequencing error, every missed coordination point slows growth. This position exists to prevent those breakdowns and convert construction into a reliable, scalable process.

You will be in the field driving project completion. Managing contractors. Maintaining schedules. Resolving sequencing conflicts before they cause delays. Simultaneously, you will deploy AI and digital platforms to minimize manual tasks, increase transparency, and speed up delivery. This is not hands-off oversight. You are the person who intervenes when schedules drift and restores control.

If you have construction experience but have been frustrated by weak coordination, lack of accountability, or endless reactive firefighting, this is your opportunity to lead with discipline and execute at scale.

What you will be doing

  • Manage on-site construction operations, collaborating directly with contractors to ensure tasks are performed in proper sequence and on time
  • Control and enforce project schedules, monitoring key milestones, surfacing risks proactively, and implementing corrective measures when delays arise
  • Leverage platforms such as Procore, Asana, or MS Project to organize tasks, maintain documentation, and track progress across multiple active projects
  • Facilitate permitting processes by monitoring submissions, addressing agency feedback, and coordinating with relevant parties to advance approvals
  • Integrate AI solutions to streamline planning, documentation, and decision-making, cutting manual workload and enhancing execution velocity

What you will NOT be doing

  • Monitoring dashboards from a distance without stepping in to correct schedule deviations
  • Overseeing projects at a strategic level only, disconnected from field conditions and sequencing realities
  • Using legacy, manual methods to monitor progress or relay information to project teams
  • Sidestepping tough discussions with contractors or stakeholders when timelines are jeopardized
  • Delaying action on issues until you have complete information

Key responsibilities

Ensure on-time delivery of school construction projects by directly managing field coordination, maintaining schedule discipline, and increasing speed and reliability through technology and AI integration.

Candidate requirements

  • Hands-on construction execution experience (field coordination, contractor oversight, or schedule management) with the ability to detail a specific project, your involvement, and how you navigated execution obstacles
  • Proven ownership or coordination of a project schedule, including schedule development, milestone tracking, and deadline enforcement, with at least one example of addressing a delay or variance
  • Competence with at least one digital project management platform (e.g., Procore, Asana, MS Project) and the ability to describe its application on an actual project
  • Knowledge of construction trade sequencing with the ability to recount a scenario where sequencing choices affected the project schedule
  • Practical understanding of permitting processes (submissions, reviews, revisions, AHJ engagement) with firsthand participation in at least one cycle
  • Confirmed use of AI tools to speed up actual work activities, including a concrete example of the tool applied, output produced, and validation method used
  • Capacity and readiness to work on-site at least 3 days per week, with travel approximately 60% of the time throughout the United States depending on project requirements
  • Based in the United States and eligible to work without requiring visa sponsorship

Nice to have

  • Background managing multiple construction projects simultaneously
  • Familiarity with rapid-growth or time-sensitive construction settings where schedules are tightly compressed
  • Motivation to enhance construction workflows through automation or process standardization
