Commercial Construction Project Manager   $100,000 USD/year

Description

In most construction positions, you implement a plan. In this role, you take ownership of the schedule—and restore it when circumstances disrupt it.

2 Hour Learning is building a nationwide system of microschools that compress a full day of education into two hours through the use of AI. That vision requires construction velocity and accuracy in the field. Each permitting holdup, every on-site sequencing error, and any missed transition between trades slows our growth. This position is designed to prevent those breakdowns and transform construction into a reliable, scalable process.

You will work directly on-site to drive project delivery. Manage contractor alignment. Hold teams to schedules. Anticipate and resolve sequencing conflicts before they cascade into delays. In parallel, you will leverage AI and digital systems to cut down administrative overhead, increase transparency, and speed up delivery. This is active, interventional project management. You are the person who acts when timelines drift and restores them to target.

If you have worked in or around construction and grown frustrated by weak coordination, limited ownership, or reactive problem-solving, this is your opportunity to step up and execute properly—at scale.

What you will be doing

  • Manage on-site construction workflows by collaborating directly with contractors to confirm work is performed in proper sequence and according to schedule
  • Take full ownership of project schedules, monitoring key milestones, flagging risks proactively, and initiating corrective measures when delays arise
  • Leverage platforms such as Procore, Asana, or MS Project to organize tasks, maintain documentation, and monitor progress across multiple active projects
  • Facilitate permitting processes by monitoring submissions, addressing agency feedback, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to advance approvals
  • Integrate AI-powered tools to streamline planning, documentation, and decision workflows, minimizing manual tasks and enhancing execution velocity

What you will NOT be doing

  • Monitoring dashboards from a distance without stepping in when schedules begin to slip
  • Overseeing projects only from a strategic level without engaging with on-site realities or understanding trade sequencing
  • Depending on legacy, manual methods for progress tracking or team communication
  • Evading tough conversations with contractors or stakeholders when deadlines are in jeopardy
  • Delaying action while waiting for complete information to address emerging problems

Key responsibilities

Ensure the timely delivery of school construction projects by leading on-site coordination, holding teams accountable to schedules, and enhancing speed and reliability through the use of digital tools and AI.

Candidate requirements

  • Hands-on construction execution experience (on-site coordination, contractor oversight, or schedule enforcement) with the capability to describe a particular project, your responsibilities, and how you navigated execution obstacles
  • Track record of owning or coordinating project timelines, including building schedules, monitoring milestones, and holding teams to deadlines, with at least one instance of managing a schedule slip or variance
  • Competency with at least one digital project management platform (e.g., Procore, Asana, MS Project) and the ability to describe its application on an actual project
  • Understanding of construction trade sequencing and the ability to provide an example where sequencing choices affected project timing
  • Practical knowledge of permitting processes (submissions, reviews, revisions, AHJ coordination) with firsthand involvement in at least one cycle
  • Proven application of AI tools to speed up actual work deliverables, including a concrete example of the tool employed, the output it produced, and how you verified the results
  • Availability and readiness to be present on-site a minimum of 3 days per week, with roughly 60% travel throughout the United States depending on project requirements
  • Based in the United States with authorization to work without requiring visa sponsorship

Nice to have

  • Background managing multiple construction projects simultaneously
  • Experience in rapid-growth or time-compressed build settings where schedules are tightly accelerated
  • Motivation to enhance construction workflows through automation or process improvement
