Construction Project Manager   $100,000 USD/year

Description

Most construction project managers follow a schedule. This role demands that you control the schedule—and recover it when circumstances disrupt it.

2 Hour Learning is building a nationwide network of microschools engineered to compress a full learning day into two hours through AI. That vision relies on execution speed and accuracy in the physical environment. Each permitting delay, every on-site sequencing error, every dropped handoff between teams slows growth. This position exists to prevent those breakdowns and transform construction into a reliable, scalable system.

You will operate in the field driving builds forward. Managing contractors. Maintaining schedules. Addressing sequencing problems before they create delays. Simultaneously, you will leverage AI and digital systems to minimize manual processes, enhance transparency, and speed up delivery. This is not hands-off oversight. You are the person who intervenes when schedules drift and restores control.

If you have worked near construction and have been held back by weak coordination, insufficient accountability, or perpetual crisis management, this is your opportunity to take ownership and execute properly—at scale.

What you will be doing

  • Manage on-site construction operations, engaging directly with contractors to ensure tasks are completed in proper sequence and on time
  • Take ownership of project schedules, monitoring key milestones, surfacing risks proactively, and initiating corrective measures when setbacks arise
  • Leverage platforms such as Procore, Asana, or MS Project to organize tasks, maintain documentation, and monitor progress across live construction sites
  • Facilitate permitting processes by monitoring submissions, addressing reviewer feedback, and aligning with stakeholders to advance approvals
  • Deploy AI-driven tools to streamline planning, record-keeping, and decision workflows, cutting manual overhead and increasing delivery speed

What you will NOT be doing

  • Monitoring dashboards from a distance without stepping in when project timelines begin to slip
  • Overseeing projects solely from a strategic altitude without engaging with field conditions and sequencing realities
  • Depending on legacy, manual methods to document progress or connect with project teams
  • Sidestepping tough discussions with contractors or partners when schedule commitments are threatened
  • Delaying action on emerging problems while waiting for comprehensive data

Key responsibilities

Ensure on-time delivery of school construction projects through hands-on site management, schedule enforcement, and the application of technology and AI to enhance speed and consistency.

Candidate requirements

  • Hands-on construction experience (site coordination, contractor oversight, or schedule management) with the ability to detail a specific project, your responsibilities, and how you navigated execution obstacles
  • Demonstrated ownership or coordination of a project schedule, including building timelines, monitoring progress, and holding teams accountable, with at least one case of addressing a delay or schedule variance
  • Working proficiency in at least one digital project management platform (e.g., Procore, Asana, MS Project) and the ability to describe its application on an actual project
  • Knowledge of construction trade sequencing and the ability to recount a specific instance where sequencing choices affected the project schedule
  • Practical understanding of permitting processes (submissions, plan reviews, revisions, interactions with authorities having jurisdiction) with firsthand participation in at least one cycle
  • Proven application of AI technology to speed up real project tasks, including a concrete example of the tool, the output it produced, and how you confirmed accuracy
  • Ability and readiness to work on-site a minimum of 3 days per week, with travel representing approximately 60% of time across locations in the United States as projects require
  • Currently based in the United States with authorization to work without requiring visa sponsorship

Nice to have

  • Background managing multiple construction projects simultaneously
  • Experience in rapid-execution or high-growth construction settings where schedules are tightly compressed
  • Motivation to enhance construction workflows through process automation or standardization
