Construction Project Lead   $100,000 USD/year

Description

Most construction positions require plan execution. This position requires you to control the schedule—and restore it when circumstances disrupt it.

2 Hour Learning is building a nationwide network of microschools engineered to compress a full day of education into two hours through AI. That approach relies on speed and accuracy in physical execution. Every permitting holdup, every on-site sequencing error, every coordination gap slows growth. This role is designed to remove those breakdowns and transform construction into a reliable, scalable system.

You will be in the field delivering builds. Managing contractors. Maintaining schedules. Resolving sequencing problems before they turn into setbacks. Simultaneously, you will leverage AI and digital systems to minimize manual effort, increase transparency, and speed up delivery. This is not hands-off oversight. You are the individual who intervenes when schedules drift and restores momentum.

If you have worked near construction but encountered poor coordination, inadequate accountability, or recurring crises, this is your opportunity to assume ownership and execute properly—at scale.

What you will be doing

  • Manage on-site construction operations, collaborating directly with contractors to confirm work proceeds in correct sequence and meets schedule targets
  • Control and enforce project schedules, monitoring key milestones, flagging risks proactively, and implementing corrective measures when delays emerge
  • Utilize platforms such as Procore, Asana, or MS Project to organize tasks, records, and progress tracking across live construction sites
  • Facilitate permitting processes by monitoring submissions, addressing reviewer feedback, and coordinating with relevant parties to advance approvals
  • Deploy AI capabilities to expedite planning, record-keeping, and decision workflows, cutting manual workload and improving execution velocity

What you will NOT be doing

  • Monitoring dashboards passively and observing schedule slips without stepping in to correct course
  • Overseeing projects from a distance without engaging with field conditions and sequencing realities
  • Using legacy, manual methods to monitor progress or maintain communication with project teams
  • Sidestepping tough discussions with contractors or stakeholders when delivery dates are jeopardized
  • Delaying action on problems while waiting for complete data sets

Key responsibilities

Ensure on-schedule delivery of school construction projects by leading on-site coordination, maintaining schedule discipline, and enhancing speed and reliability through digital tools and AI integration.

Candidate requirements

  • Hands-on construction execution background (on-site coordination, contractor oversight, or schedule management) with capacity to detail a particular project, your contribution, and how you addressed execution obstacles
  • Experience controlling or managing a project schedule, including developing timelines, monitoring progress points, and maintaining accountability, with at least one instance of navigating a delay or schedule change
  • Competence with at least one digital project coordination platform (e.g., Procore, Asana, MS Project) and ability to describe its application on an actual project
  • Background in construction trade sequencing with ability to recount a scenario where sequencing choices affected project timing
  • Practical understanding of permitting processes (submissions, reviews, modifications, authority interactions) with firsthand participation in at least one cycle
  • Proven application of AI tools to speed up actual work outputs, including a specific example of the tool deployed, results produced, and validation methods applied
  • Availability and readiness to work on-site at least 3 days per week, with roughly 60% travel throughout the United States depending on project requirements
  • Based in the United States with authorization to work without requiring visa sponsorship

Nice to have

  • Experience managing multiple simultaneous construction projects
  • Familiarity with rapid or high-growth construction settings where schedules are significantly accelerated
  • Motivation to enhance construction workflows through automation or process optimization
