Tenant Improvement Project Manager   $100,000 USD/year

Description

Most construction project managers track timelines. This role requires you to enforce them—and repair them when real-world conditions disrupt the plan.

2 Hour Learning is building a national network of microschools that compress a full day of education into two hours through AI integration. Success in this model requires execution speed and precision in physical construction. Permitting bottlenecks, sequencing errors, and coordination breakdowns all slow deployment. This position is designed to eliminate those obstacles and make construction predictable and scalable.

You will work directly on-site to drive builds forward. Managing contractors. Holding schedules. Resolving sequencing conflicts before they cascade into delays. You will also leverage AI and digital systems to reduce manual overhead, enhance project visibility, and improve execution velocity. This is active, interventional project management. When timelines drift, you are the person who steps in and restores control.

If you have construction experience but have been frustrated by weak coordination, lack of accountability, or endless reactivity, this is your opportunity to lead execution properly—and at scale.

What you will be doing

  • Manage day-to-day construction activities on-site, partnering directly with contractors to ensure proper sequencing and adherence to schedule
  • Take ownership of project timelines, monitor milestone progress, surface risks proactively, and initiate corrective measures when slippage occurs
  • Leverage platforms such as Procore, Asana, or MS Project to organize tasks, maintain documentation, and monitor status across multiple active projects
  • Facilitate permitting processes by monitoring submission status, addressing reviewer comments, and aligning stakeholders to expedite approvals
  • Integrate AI-driven tools into planning, documentation, and decision workflows to minimize manual work and increase delivery speed

What you will NOT be doing

  • Monitoring dashboards from a distance without engaging when schedules begin to slip
  • Overseeing projects at only a strategic level, disconnected from the realities of field sequencing and site execution
  • Depending on legacy or manual methods for progress tracking and team communication
  • Sidestepping challenging discussions with contractors or stakeholders when project timelines are threatened
  • Delaying decisions or action while waiting for complete or ideal information

Key responsibilities

Ensure on-time completion of school construction projects through hands-on site coordination, rigorous schedule management, and the strategic use of tools and AI to enhance speed and reliability.

Candidate requirements

  • Hands-on construction execution background (site coordination, contractor oversight, or schedule enforcement), with the ability to detail a specific project, your responsibilities, and how you navigated execution obstacles
  • Experience managing or coordinating project schedules, including developing timelines, monitoring milestones, and holding teams accountable, with at least one documented example of responding to a delay or variance
  • Proficiency in at least one digital project management platform (e.g., Procore, Asana, MS Project), with the ability to describe its application on an actual project
  • Practical knowledge of construction trade sequencing, with the ability to discuss a scenario where sequencing choices affected project timing
  • Familiarity with permitting workflows (submissions, reviews, revisions, authority interactions), including direct participation in at least one permitting cycle
  • Proven application of AI tools to accelerate tangible work tasks, with a specific example of the tool, the output it produced, and the method used to validate results
  • Availability to work on-site at least 3 days per week, with approximately 60% travel across the United States depending on project demands
  • Based in the United States with authorization to work without requiring visa sponsorship

Nice to have

  • Experience managing multiple construction projects simultaneously
  • Background in fast-paced or high-growth construction environments with compressed delivery schedules
  • Passion for refining construction workflows through automation or process improvement
