Virtual Student Mentor   $60,000 USD/year

Description

  • Hybrid AZ · W2 · $60K/yr

Licensed teachers seeking to shift from classroom management to meaningful student mentorship should consider this opportunity.

Imagine a teaching position where lesson planning, lecture delivery, and grading no longer define your day—instead, you dedicate your energy entirely to guiding students toward confidence and capability.

Unbound Academy has redesigned the teaching model. This hybrid position supports a tuition-free virtual Arizona charter school that eliminates worksheets in favor of experiential learning and prioritizes character development. Students handle core academics autonomously through AI-powered platforms during two concentrated hours each day. Their remaining time is devoted to cultivating practical competencies through facilitated workshops, mentorship, and discovery.

You will not present scripted curriculum or monitor a conventional virtual classroom. Instead, you will facilitate dynamic online sessions that inspire students to think critically, innovate, collaborate, and mature. Your mentorship will span storytelling, entrepreneurship, wellness, and critical thinking while fostering independence, self-assurance, and organizational skills.

This position does not suit educators attempting to replicate conventional schooling in a digital format. It requires licensed teachers prepared to relocate to Arizona, engage in a hybrid work structure, and guide students in ways that genuinely equip them for adult life. If you have outgrown classroom administration and seek deeply impactful work, continue reading.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating engaging virtual workshops centered on essential life competencies including communication, innovation, analytical thinking, and autonomy
  • Providing individualized and small-group mentorship to cultivate confidence, accountability, and executive capabilities
  • Leveraging platform analytics and behavioral indicators to customize support and monitor development longitudinally
  • Partnering with teaching colleagues to architect and refine project-oriented learning frameworks
  • Establishing a secure, energized atmosphere where students experience visibility, challenge, and inspiration for personal advancement

What you will NOT be doing

  • Instructing foundational academic content; adaptive AI tutoring systems manage these subjects
  • Presenting predetermined lectures or operating within a conventional classroom framework
  • Evaluating worksheets, distributing homework assignments, or constructing standardized lesson templates

Key responsibilities

Advance student maturation and real-world preparedness through leading impactful, practical learning engagements within a hybrid, fully virtual educational environment.

Candidate requirements

  • Available to commence end of July 2026
  • Valid U.S. teaching certificate from any state, or an expired certificate eligible for reinstatement, with certification transferable to Arizona
  • Strong virtual presence and comfort leading students via video
  • Able to work in a hybrid role in Arizona
