Construction Project Manager   $100,000 USD/year

Description

Most construction positions require you to execute a plan. This role requires you to control the schedule—and recover it when circumstances derail it.

2 Hour Learning is building a nationwide network of microschools engineered to compress a full day of education into two hours through AI. That approach relies on speed and accuracy in physical execution. Every permitting holdup, every on-site sequencing error, every incomplete handoff delays growth. This position exists to remove those breakdowns and transform construction into a reliable, scalable process.

You will operate on the ground delivering builds. Managing contractors. Maintaining schedules. Addressing sequencing problems before they cause delays. Simultaneously, you will leverage AI and digital platforms to eliminate manual tasks, increase transparency, and improve execution velocity. This is not hands-off oversight. You are the individual who intervenes when schedules drift and restores them to plan.

If you have construction experience but are frustrated by weak coordination, limited accountability, or constant emergencies, this is your opportunity to lead and execute properly—at scale.

What you will be doing

  • Manage on-site construction operations, collaborating directly with contractors to confirm work proceeds in correct sequence and according to schedule
  • Control and maintain project schedules, monitoring key milestones, surfacing risks proactively, and executing corrective measures when delays emerge
  • Leverage platforms such as Procore, Asana, or MS Project to organize tasks, maintain documentation, and monitor progress across live projects
  • Assist permitting processes by monitoring submissions, addressing reviewer feedback, and coordinating with relevant parties to advance approvals
  • Deploy AI technologies to speed up planning, documentation, and decision workflows, minimizing manual workload and enhancing delivery performance

What you will NOT be doing

  • Remaining desk-bound and monitoring dashboards passively without acting when schedules begin to slip
  • Overseeing projects from a distance without grasping field conditions and sequencing dependencies
  • Depending on legacy, manual methods to monitor progress or interface with project teams
  • Sidestepping tough discussions with contractors or stakeholders when timelines are in jeopardy
  • Delaying action to address problems until all information is complete

Key responsibilities

Ensure on-time delivery of school construction projects by actively directing field coordination, maintaining schedule adherence, and enhancing velocity and reliability through digital tools and AI.

Candidate requirements

  • Hands-on experience in construction delivery (field coordination, contractor oversight, or schedule management) with the ability to detail a specific project, your involvement, and how you resolved execution obstacles
  • Experience managing or coordinating a project schedule, including building timelines, monitoring milestones, and maintaining deadlines, with at least one example of addressing a delay or schedule change
  • Competency in at least one digital project management platform (e.g., Procore, Asana, MS Project) and the ability to describe its application on an actual project
  • Understanding of construction trade sequencing with the ability to recount a scenario where sequencing choices affected project timing
  • Practical knowledge of permitting procedures (submissions, reviews, revisions, AHJ coordination) with hands-on participation in at least one cycle
  • Proven application of AI tools to expedite tangible work activities, including a specific example of the tool employed, deliverable produced, and validation method applied
  • Availability and capability to work on-site a minimum of 3 days per week, with roughly 60% travel throughout the United States depending on project requirements
  • Based in the United States and eligible to work without requiring visa sponsorship

Nice to have

  • Experience managing multiple simultaneous construction projects
  • Background in rapid or scaling build environments where schedules are significantly compressed
  • Motivation to enhance construction workflows through automation or process improvement
