You've built your career coaching young people — not simply instructing them. The distinction matters: coaching means building connection, issuing challenges, and refusing to accept anything less than peak effort. Instruction is about content delivery. You've never functioned as a content delivery mechanism.

Your responsibility isn't explaining mathematical concepts. It's facilitating life skills workshops that command the attention of K-8 learners, conducting motivation sessions that drive weekly learning target achievement, and maintaining standards when students attempt to disengage. Academic progression happens automatically. You manage the interpersonal dimension.

This position offers meaningful advancement potential. Counselors who consistently achieve performance benchmarks (100% cohort completion of weekly app targets, satisfaction ratings above 90%) advance to Lead positions where they mentor fellow educators and influence campus culture.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating one-hour life skills workshops for K-8 students addressing topics including public speaking, concentration, and feedback exchange
  • Administering Test2Pass mastery assessments following each workshop to verify genuine skill acquisition rather than passive attendance
  • Conducting daily motivation sessions leveraging student profiles, personal interests, and Coachbot analytics to ensure 100% cohort achievement of weekly app progression targets
  • Employing narrative techniques, incentive systems (campus currency, leaderboards), and individual rapport to overcome student reluctance
  • Monitoring cohort satisfaction metrics toward a 90%+ benchmark on student feedback surveys

What you will NOT be doing

  • Delivering traditional board-based lectures. Academic advancement occurs through self-directed applications, not through direct instruction from you.
  • Providing passive supervision. While students work on computers, your role demands active engagement.
  • Compromising standards when students resist. Test2Pass requirements remain fixed, even during difficult weeks.
  • Developing original curriculum — workshop frameworks and lesson structures are supplied; your responsibility is executing them with the narrative skill and presence that ensures genuine student absorption.
  • Handling parent communications, admissions processes, or campus administrative functions. Those belong to separate roles.

Key responsibilities

Guide a cohort of K-8 students toward 100% completion of weekly academic objectives while facilitating life skills workshops that achieve 90%+ satisfaction ratings.

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in any field
  • Minimum 3 years of direct experience working with K-8 (elementary and middle school) students
  • Strong storytelling and facilitation skills — capacity to maintain child engagement for one-hour sessions
  • Available to work on-site at the Alpha campus located in Brownsville, TX
  • Authorization to work legally in the US without requiring visa sponsorship

Nice to have

  • Experience as an athletic coach, camp counselor, or youth program coordinator
  • Demonstrated high achievement in competitive settings (academic, athletic, or professional contexts)
  • Familiarity with self-paced or application-based learning environments
