Associate   $100,000 USD/year

Description

  • Located on-site at the Alpha School campus in Brownsville, TX
  • $100,000 annual W2 salary, with weekly pay. Full health benefits begin day one.
  • Relocation assistance available for a one-school-year commitment to the campus

You've spent years coaching young people — not simply teaching them. You understand the distinction: coaching means connecting, challenging, and refusing to accept anything less than a student's full potential. Teaching is about delivering content. You've never functioned as a content delivery mechanism.

Alpha operates the most unconventional school model you're likely to encounter. Students don't sit in rows absorbing lectures. They progress through AI-driven learning applications at their own speed. The AI manages instructional delivery. Your responsibility is to facilitate life skills workshops that capture the attention of K-8 students, conduct motivation sessions that drive them toward their weekly learning targets, and maintain high standards when a student attempts to coast. Academic progress is automated. You manage the human dimension.

This position offers a meaningful ceiling: deeper student impact. Educators who consistently achieve their metrics (100% cohort achievement of weekly app targets, 90%+ satisfaction ratings) advance into Lead Guide positions where they train other educators to excel in this work. Students remain the central focus.

The campus is situated in Brownsville, adjacent to SpaceX's Starbase. If your motivation for leaving your current role is the mission — transforming what a child believes about their own potential — rather than a resume bullet, submit your application.

What you will be doing

  • Facilitating one-hour life skills workshops for K-8 students on topics including public speaking, focus, and feedback exchange
  • Administering Test2Pass mastery assessments following each workshop to verify students have truly acquired the skill, not merely attended
  • Conducting daily motivation sessions leveraging student profiles, personal interests, and Coachbot analytics to ensure 100% of your cohort reaches their weekly app progression goals
  • Utilizing storytelling, incentive systems (school currency, leaderboards), and personal relationships to overcome student resistance
  • Monitoring cohort satisfaction ratings with a target of 90%+ on student surveys

What you will NOT be doing

  • Lecturing from the front of the room. Students progress academically via self-paced AI-powered apps, not through direct instruction from you.
  • Supervising idle screen time. Kids working on computers is the environment; active engagement defines the role.
  • Compromising standards when students resist. Test2Pass expectations remain firm, even when a student is struggling through a difficult week.
  • Creating curriculum materials independently. Lesson frameworks and workshop guides are supplied; your responsibility is to execute them with the presence and narrative skill that ensures students genuinely internalize the content.
  • Handling parent relations, admissions processes, or campus facility management. Those functions belong to a separate role.

Key responsibilities

Guide a cohort of K-8 students to achieve 100% of their weekly academic targets while facilitating life skills workshops that earn 90%+ satisfaction ratings.

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in any field
  • Minimum 3 years of direct experience working with K-8 (elementary and middle school) students
  • Strong storytelling and facilitation skills — capable of maintaining engagement with a room full of children for an hour
  • Available to work on-site at the Alpha campus in Brownsville, TX
  • Authorized to work in the US without requiring visa sponsorship

Nice to have

  • Experience as an athletic coach, camp counselor, or youth program leader
  • Demonstrated history of high achievement in competitive settings (academic, athletic, or professional)
  • Familiarity with self-directed or app-based learning models
