Alpha operates a compressed K-12 learning model: planned to the minute, faster-paced than conventional schools, and organized around a Guide who remains entirely focused on teaching. That structure only works if someone manages the operational foundation — keeping transitions punctual, ensuring materials are prepared before instruction begins, and maintaining student focus before minor distractions escalate into disruptions.
You're in the center of operations from day one. No gradual onboarding. You'll be monitoring classroom activity, implementing Alpha-approved motivational strategies (positive reinforcement, structured prompts, immediate redirection), and preparing each lesson segment so the Guide can begin teaching without delay. When you perform effectively, a student who was losing focus returns to task before the lesson loses momentum. The standards are specific: 95% of transitions completed on time, materials ready before every session, students engaged continuously.

What you will be doing
- Managing student transitions between activities (approximately 30% of your time): tracking the clock, cueing students to transition, and applying positive reinforcement to maintain orderly and timely movement
- Setting up classroom materials ahead of each lesson by collecting supplies, arranging them according to the activity guide, and verifying setup aligns with the Guide's specifications before teaching starts
- Supporting student engagement during structured activities (approximately 40% of your time) by observing participation, spotting disengagement early, and redirecting students using Alpha-approved classroom management methods without disrupting instruction
What you will NOT be doing
- Observing from the rear of the room waiting for issues to emerge — this position demands active involvement and real-time judgment throughout the school day
- Creating lessons, drafting activity plans, or holding accountability for academic results (those are the Guide's responsibilities)
- Developing your own methods for student behavior; Alpha's motivational techniques are established and you'll implement them uniformly
- Handling facility maintenance, carpool coordination, or after-hours programming; your focus is classroom operations during school hours

Candidate requirements
- Willing to work in person at our Scottsdale campus.
- Work a minimum of 10 hours per week, with complete flexibility to select your schedule during school hours (Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM). Option for full-time position.
- Experience working with children ages 5–14 in a structured setting (school, camp, childcare, tutoring, or coaching).
- Ability to coordinate people, materials, and activities quickly and effectively.
- Kid-friendly and comfortable redirecting children using encouragement.
- Legal right to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.
Nice to have
- Direct group management experience with children in motion (camp counselor, classroom aide, teacher's aide, paraprofessional, youth sports coach, or after-school program staff)
- Experience in a mastery-based, competency-based, or structured learning program (Montessori, project-based learning, or similar)
- Demonstrated ability to keep groups on schedule using positive redirection rather than escalating to adult intervention
