Alpha operates a compressed K-12 model: scheduled down to the minute, faster-paced than traditional schooling, and designed around a Guide whose sole focus is instruction. This system functions only if someone takes ownership of the operational foundation — ensuring transitions occur on schedule, preparing materials before lessons begin, and managing student attention before minor distractions escalate into disruptions.
You'll be immersed from week one. There is no ramp-up period. You'll be observing the classroom environment, implementing Alpha's approved motivational strategies (positive reinforcement, structured prompts, immediate redirection), and staging each activity so the Guide can begin instruction without delay. When executed well, a student losing focus is re-engaged before the lesson momentum is interrupted. Performance standards are explicit: 95% on-time transitions, materials prepared before every session, sustained student engagement.

What you will be doing
- Managing student transitions between activities (approximately 30% of your time): tracking time, prompting students to move, and applying positive reinforcement to maintain orderly, on-schedule movement
- Staging classroom materials before each lesson by collecting supplies, arranging them according to the activity plan, and verifying setup aligns with the Guide's instructions before teaching starts
- Supporting student engagement during structured activities (approximately 40% of your time) by observing participation, spotting disengagement early, and redirecting students using Alpha's defined classroom management methods without disrupting instruction
What you will NOT be doing
- Observing passively from the back of the room until problems emerge — this position demands active presence and continuous decision-making during school hours
- Creating lesson plans, drafting activity outlines, or owning academic performance (those are the Guide's responsibilities)
- Developing your own methods for managing student behavior; Alpha's motivational techniques are standardized and must be applied uniformly
- Handling facility maintenance, carpool coordination, or after-hours programming; your focus is classroom operations during instructional time

Candidate requirements
- Available to work on-site at our Scottsdale campus.
- Commit to a minimum of 10 hours per week, with complete flexibility to select your schedule within school hours (Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM). Full-time position available.
- Prior experience working with children ages 5–14 in a structured environment (school, camp, childcare, tutoring, or coaching).
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate people, materials, and activities efficiently and effectively.
- Comfortable with children and capable of redirecting them using positive encouragement.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without requiring visa sponsorship.
Nice to have
- Direct group management experience with children in active settings (camp counselor, classroom aide, teacher's aide, paraprofessional, youth sports coach, or after-school program staff)
- Background in mastery-based, competency-based, or structured learning environments (Montessori, project-based learning, or similar models)
- Proven ability to keep groups on schedule through positive redirection without needing to escalate to adult intervention
