Alpha is hiring.
This role is not a supervisory leadership position — it's a part-time, on-site role ensuring a safe and productive environment for high school students during their afternoon project work, at Alpha, an innovative education startup building the Stanford of K-12 education, where students crush academics in 2 hours, then spend their time building expertise and online audiences through ambitious masterpiece projects.
You'll oversee students during their afternoon project block, keeping the space safe and productive. This 19-20 hour per week role offers flexible scheduling options and competitive compensation, including guaranteed parking in downtown Austin.
THE DETAILS:
- Location: Downtown Austin (parking included)
- Hours: 19-20 hours/week
- Schedule Options: Monday-Friday 4-7 PM + Saturday 12-4 PM, or Monday-Thursday 4-8 PM + Saturday 12-4 PM
- Pay: $30 per hour
- Start Date: Immediate

What you will be doing
- Ensure student safety during afternoon project work sessions
- Monitor students as they work on ambitious masterpiece projects
- Close and secure the school facility each evening
- Serve as a proctor for student exams scheduled during afternoon hours
What you will NOT be doing
- Tutoring or providing academic assistance
- Planning activities or entertainment
- Direct project supervision or guidance
- Administrative work beyond basic safety monitoring
Key responsibilities
Ensure a safe and engaging student experience during afternoon project work hours
Candidate requirements
- At least 18 years old, legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship, and able to work on-site in downtown Austin.
- Available for one complete fixed schedule: Monday-Friday 4-7 PM plus Saturday 12-4 PM, or Monday-Thursday 4-8 PM plus Saturday 12-4 PM.
- Able to commit to the full schedule for at least one school semester.
- Experience supervising groups of children or teenagers in a structured setting — the kind of oversight an education supervisor role builds naturally — with clear examples of the ages and group sizes you supported.
- Experience independently opening, closing, or securing a facility or shift, plus a concrete example of personally handling a behavior or safety situation.
Nice to have
Experience as a test/exam proctor is a plus, but not required.
