Head of Admissions   $200,000 USD/year

Description

This position does not exist to maximize volume. It exists to uphold standards.

Alpha is developing one of the most rigorous educational models operating today. Our campuses integrate demanding academics, technology-driven instruction, and elevated expectations for both learners and educators. Students advance at rates that exceed national norms, supported by measurable evidence. Afternoons are structured around depth, autonomy, and practical competency development. The model delivers results—but only when families are correctly matched.

Your role begins there.

You will lead the admissions process for a campus, managing the full arc from inquiry to confirmed enrollment. This is not a handoff function. You are accountable for how families engage with us, how thoroughly they comprehend the model, and whether enrollment decisions reflect genuine alignment. You will evaluate compatibility, facilitate meaningful dialogue, and recommend against admission when appropriate. The objective is not to fill seats. The objective is to ensure fit.

We welcome applicants from high-caliber service backgrounds outside conventional education: independent schools, competitive programs, premium hospitality, executive assistance, exclusive membership services, or entrepreneurial operators who have directly managed sophisticated client experiences from start to finish. What matters most is your capacity to execute a detailed, multi-phase process with discernment, precision, and accountability.

If your career has been defined by delivering exceptional service where credibility, confidentiality, and experience integrity shape the brand, this role will be a natural extension—simply directed toward outcomes that genuinely matter.

This is a salaried, full-time, on-campus position. We are currently hiring in Santa Barbara, Santa Monica, Los Angeles, and La Jolla. Relocation assistance is provided.

What you will be doing

  • Leading the complete enrollment experience for prospective families, from initial outreach through final onboarding.
  • Facilitating exploratory discussions to evaluate alignment before introducing solutions or advising on subsequent actions.
  • Stewarding 20+ concurrent family engagements across varying stages, with transparent tracking of progress and follow-up obligations.
  • Delivering campus visits, student shadow days, and enrollment consultations that articulate outcomes, commitments, and ideal candidate profiles.
  • Ensuring precise CRM and enrollment system documentation (HubSpot and SIS) to enable forecasting, prioritization, and consistent service delivery.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Applying transactional or coercive enrollment techniques.
  • Accepting families who lack alignment in order to meet a quota.
  • Overseeing a sizable team or operating within complex hierarchical structures.
  • Distributing responsibility for the family journey across multiple stakeholders.
  • Performing this work remotely. The role is intentionally campus-based.

Key responsibilities

Design and deliver a relationship-driven, selective enrollment process that successfully converts well-matched families while safeguarding the credibility and academic effectiveness of the Alpha model.

Candidate requirements

  • 3+ years providing high-caliber, individualized service in settings where service excellence directly influences brand trust (education, premium hospitality, executive support, exclusive membership organizations, or owner-managed services).
  • Proven ownership of a complete client, admissions, or enrollment lifecycle from initial inquiry through onboarding.
  • Experience concurrently managing 20+ client, guest, or family accounts across multiple stages, supported by a disciplined tracking and prioritization framework.
  • Ability to share specific instances of consultative judgment, including occasions when you advised against your own offering because it was not the appropriate solution.
  • Professional writing proficiency with senior leaders, affluent clients, or sophisticated stakeholders.
  • Willingness to reside in or relocate within 60 days to one of these locations: Santa Barbara, CA; Santa Monica, CA; Los Angeles, CA; or La Jolla, CA.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without need for visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

  • Background in admissions for selective independent schools or competitive enrollment programs.
  • Experience in premium hospitality, VIP client services, or executive-level support functions.
  • Prior involvement in developing or refining enrollment workflows, operational standards, or service protocols.
  • Proficiency leveraging data and CRM analytics to enhance enrollment alignment, not merely processing speed.
