Director of Parent Engagement & Advocacy   $200,000 USD/year

Description

  • On-site (multiple locations) · W2 · $200K annually

Families who select Alpha rely on trusted advisors across every aspect of their lives. This role fills the gap they didn't realize existed.

You will become the person they reach out to during moments of uncertainty, when intuition signals concern, or when they experience something only you would fully grasp. You'll develop familiarity with each family deep enough to foresee needs before they surface—and you'll possess the judgment and composure to address whatever arises with discretion, genuine warmth, and apparent ease. Over time, your role will extend beyond the school itself. You'll become woven into the way they navigate this phase of their family journey.

Trust at this level isn't generated through systems. It emerges from presence—daily, steady, and unhurried. You'll maintain visibility during morning arrivals and afternoon departures, at evening gatherings that hold significance, and in private conversations that never appear on any schedule. You'll cultivate a community families instinctively protect, where connection feels natural and referrals arise because the experience merits them.

Alpha operates outside traditional schooling norms. Students complete core academic work in two hours daily through AI-powered applications, dedicating remaining time to public speaking, critical thinking, and applied projects. No conventional lectures. No filler assignments. Outcomes in the top 1% nationally. The families enrolling are investing in something they value deeply—but conviction requires ongoing care.

You'll sustain that dialogue with every family, addressing every uncertainty, throughout their child's enrollment. If articulating an unconventional approach to discerning skeptics feels burdensome, this position isn't suited to you. If it represents the most compelling conversation you could engage in, continue reading.

What you will be doing

  • Hold ownership of the relationship with every enrolled family—the continuous, evolving connection that ensures parents feel recognized, not merely attended to
  • Identify potential issues before they escalate into conversations, addressing them with discretion and interpersonal skill that preserves trust
  • Maintain visible presence in key family touchpoints: morning arrivals (7–9am), afternoon departures (2–4pm), evening parent gatherings, and select weekend programming
  • Develop a campus community with authentic depth—programming, rituals, and interactions that foster a sense of belonging families actively want to safeguard
  • Develop parent champions naturally, designing experiences of such consistent quality that referrals emerge as an organic result
  • Sustain the dialogue around Alpha's AI-driven approach with families managing screen time considerations, skeptical relatives, and periodic uncertainty—not only during enrollment, but continuously throughout their campus experience
  • Recognize when a family alignment isn't optimal and address it with the same care applied to all interactions—community protection is integral to service
  • Create the infrastructure and cadences this position demands within an environment where established frameworks are still emerging

What you will NOT be doing

  • Overseeing enrollment—that falls to the Admissions Director; your responsibilities commence when families join and deepen continuously
  • Operating from behind a desk—community presence defines this role
  • Adhering to standard 9–5 schedules—early morning hours, late afternoons, and evening programming are integral, not occasional
  • Relying on administrative infrastructure, established protocols, or full staffing—you function with substantial autonomy and construct what's necessary
  • Approaching family relationships as transactional accounts—this position rewards authentic engagement, not procedural adherence

Key responsibilities

Serve as the central trusted relationship in every family's Alpha experience. Maintain their confidence through challenging moments, cultivate a community where belonging carries weight, and establish conditions under which satisfied families organically become vocal proponents.

Candidate requirements

  • Currently reside within commuting range of one of these campuses OR willing to relocate within 60 days (preference given to candidates with established local community ties): Scottsdale, AZ; Greenwich, CT; Bethesda, MD; New York City, NY; Oklahoma City, OK; Austin, TX; Fort Worth, TX; Houston, TX; Chantilly, VA; or Kirkland, WA
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
  • 5+ years in a relationship-focused role serving high-net-worth or ultra-high-net-worth families—private school admissions, luxury hospitality, philanthropy, or any setting where discretion, warmth, and interpersonal fluency were equally important as competence
  • Proven capacity to maintain relationships through challenging moments with sophisticated families and preserve trust throughout
  • Authentic presence and communication approach that establishes confidence quickly with affluent, high-expectation families—polished without appearing rehearsed
  • Personal exposure to independent, private, or non-traditional education—through professional experience or as a parent—that provides credible standing when families challenge the model
  • Authentic conviction in AI-powered education and capacity to sustain that belief genuinely across years of parent relationships, not limited to enrollment discussions
  • Availability for variable hours: early mornings (7–9am), late afternoons (2–4pm), evening events 2–3 times monthly, and occasional weekend activities

Nice to have

Outstanding candidates will demonstrate at least one of the following:

  • Established connections within the local affluent community providing immediate, organic credibility on campus
  • Private school or independent school background with documented success in family retention and community building—beyond enrollment metrics alone
  • Experience managing high-stakes family dynamics where your judgment and discretion were the foundation of sustained trust
  • Natural talent for designing experiences—gatherings, moments, environments—that generate a sense of belonging to something people want to protect
  • Prior startup or early-stage organizational experience where you built from the ground up and maintained composure amid rapid change

This isn't conventional schooling, and parent engagement here operates differently as well.

At Alpha, parent advocacy functions as a growth driver, not a support service. You'll facilitate high-trust dialogues, organize events that generate conversion, and build conviction family by family. This requires mastery of both messaging and model. You'll need comprehensive understanding of what distinguishes Alpha—and how to articulate that in ways that influence decisions.
