Community & Operations Manager   $110,000 USD/year

Description

LOCATION NOTE: This is a full-time, in-person position based at our Palo Alto campus.

Frustrated by cookie-cutter schools that limit student potential? Alpha is redesigning education for learners who exceed traditional classroom expectations. We seek a motivated operator who creates smooth, organized, high-caliber systems that enable outstanding learning—day in and day out.

Alpha is not a conventional private school. We integrate demanding academics with practical skills and our validated 2-Hour Learning framework that accelerates student progress beyond standard grade-level expectations. In this position, you serve as the operational foundation of our campus: you control the rhythm of each day, safeguard time for concentrated learning, and maintain every element precisely so Guides can focus on mentorship without interruption. You will manage safety, facilities, and foundational technology administration while cultivating a welcoming, high-performance culture for students and families.

If you excel at establishing clear procedures, solving problems quickly, and delivering tangible results, this role is designed for you. You will create a campus environment that feels purposeful, streamlined, and inspiring—where academic drive is honored and self-reliance is cultivated. Join us to help build a school where ambitious students advance faster, develop resilience, and demonstrate leadership.

What you will be doing

  • Managing daily campus operations from start to finish to maintain the 2-Hour Learning schedule on track and free from disruptions.
  • Handling front-line technology support (device configuration, rapid troubleshooting) and coordinating escalations with IT teams.
  • Establishing trust with students, families, and staff through precise communication and reliable execution.
  • Executing and reviewing campus safety protocols; overseeing drills, incident documentation, and vendor relationships.
  • Facilitating key activities—events, staff onboarding, supply and facilities coordination—to ensure the campus consistently meets high standards.

What you will NOT be doing

  • Delivering academic instruction or designing curriculum; Guides handle student mentorship while you ensure operational excellence.
  • Operating from a back office with limited visibility; your contributions directly enhance student outcomes and family satisfaction.
  • Spending time on administrative tasks unrelated to accelerated learning; every action you take connects to efficiency, safety, or standards.

Key responsibilities

Take full ownership of campus operations so our campus functions on schedule, to standard, and at a level that supports faster learning and outstanding family satisfaction.

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (any field)
  • 1+ years managing complex operations in education, events, hospitality, or a comparable high-service setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to remain composed under pressure, show initiative, and manage competing priorities autonomously.
  • Proficiency with basic IT troubleshooting and Google Workspace administration.
  • Clear, professional written and spoken communication that fosters community trust.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States and ability to work on-site in Palo Alto, CA.
